Berger as a very close friend of President Clinton was often asked to do more than most National Security Advisors of the past.

Now isn't that interesting. As Clinton's close friend, Berger musta been privy to lots of neat stuff.

C'mon Sandy, 'fess up. Watta you know that we don't know?

This might be interesting...Berger knows EVERYTHING...he knows where the bodies (ahem) are buried. Let's see if the Clinton's hang him out or what. Maybe he'll rat out all the rats. And the world, as we once knew it, will be well again.

He has been criticized by some for being too passive

Like when Bill asks him to drop by the archives and pick up a few classified documents?

I just love it when they find a guy who has worked with McGovern, Carter, Clinton and Kerry and then determine that he is a "Centrist".

He knows Clinton was far to busy with other issues, like interns, bicycle helmets and school uniforms to be bothered with going after Al-Qaeda here in the US.

They dropped the ball, they ignored the recommendations, and 9-11 occurred.

The Republicans have handled this far more intelligently than I had expected.

Berger spirited the documents out last fall, but the investigation became public only a week before the Democratic Convention.

The Democrats had expected a July Surprise on the order of having Bin Laden captured. They did not expect the July Surprise to be the imminent arrest of the key emissary to the Kerry campaign from the Foreign Policy Community. They did not expect to see him get nailed for a national security/espionage-related offense that carries hard prison time for both the thief and for anyone who lacks the security clearance and the need-to-know but who reads the documents anyway.

It's become obvious that this story is developing legs. Even the Establishment Media can no longer ignore it, and soon they will no longer be able to play it down. Because it needs to blow up in full force by the day the convention opens, I expect the velocity of the unraveling to increase exponentially.

Maybe the Republicans aren't the Stupid Party anymore.

Berger is the co-founder (with Anthony S. Harrington) of Stonebridge International. Thought you might be interested in this part of Mr. Harrington's bio:

"Ambassador Harrington was previously Chairman of the President's Intelligence Oversight Board, Vice Chairman of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board and a member of the congressionally-created Commission on the Roles and Capabilities of the U. S. Intelligence Community."

Now that I have your attention...here's the rest.

Anthony Stephen Harrington is President of Stonebridge International, LLC, an international strategic advisory firm based in Washington, DC, co-founded with former National Security Advisor Samuel R. Berger.

Previously, he served as Ambassador of the United States to the Federative Republic of Brazil. He was nominated by President Clinton on October 29, 1999, and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate with bipartisan support in a record 12 days later. Brazil is the fifth largest country, representing about half of South America in population, territory and economy. U.S. business investment in Brazil is greater than in any emerging country, more than in our next-door neighbor Mexico and five times that in China. More than 400 of the Fortune 500 companies have operations in Brazil.

Ambassador Harrington carried out a mandate to upgrade the level of relations between the U.S. and Brazil, arriving at post after almost two years without an ambassador. He worked with a broad range of U.S. companies in addressing concerns related to doing business in the country, and he also actively engaged leaders of Brazilian industry.

In recognition of his accomplishments in U.S.-Brazil relations, the Government of Brazil conferred on Ambassador Harrington the Order of Rio Branco, Grand Cross.

Before serving in Brazil, Mr. Harrington was a senior partner of Hogan & Hartson, a 900-lawyer, international firm based in Washington, D.C., with offices elsewhere in the United States, Western and Eastern Europe and Asia. He currently serves as international strategic advisor to the firm.

Ambassador Harrington was previously Chairman of the President's Intelligence Oversight Board, Vice Chairman of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board and a member of the congressionally-created Commission on the Roles and Capabilities of the U. S. Intelligence Community.

Other past activities include serving as a founder, director and officer of several business and non-profit corporations. Mr. Harrington was a founder of Telecom*USA, which became the fourth largest U. S. long distance telephone company, prior to its merger with MCI.

Mr. Harrington is a trustee of the Kenan Institute for Private Enterprise and a member of the Board of Directors of PRE Solutions, Inc., a private telecommunications company.

If Sandy is a close friend of Bill and Hillary and knows where all the bodies are buried, he better not go near Fort Marcy Park or his body may end up their very much dead.

When Jimmy Carter won the Presidency in 1976 Berger served as deputy director of policy planning at the State Department under Anthony Lake the man he would replace as national security advisor.

I was wondering what his relationship to Lake was--very interesting.

Berger is quick witted, blunt, and hard hitting when it comes to defending his views, yet he never hits below the belt...............

He can't hit below the belt. It's filled with stolen documents.

CNN no longer has the Bergler story on their home page. Apparently, it is not newsworthy.
