Of course the Democrats know the original context of Schwarznegger's quote, and the context in which he meant it. They're merely redefining the use of the term to suit their perceived political advantage.
Democrats lie, de-fraud, redefine .. do anything but tell it straight, because their true agenda would be tougher sell than peddling ice to an Eskimo. An honest politician, when faced with such a "political attack" on his/her character, would have laughed it off, and said something like,
"...well, maybe ol' "Hanz" Schwarnegger knows something about that.. that's hillarious. But seriously, these budget negotiations are about the future of our state, and once we get past the Governor's gaffaws... we both need to get serious on a compromise.. for the benefit of future Californians.."
In other words, there was an easy, lighthearted response available to any Democrat politician with half-a-brain. Resorting to demagoguery, redefining the terms used out of their original context, simply confirms Schwarzenergger's original observations: The Dems in Sacramento really ARE "girly men", especially the..ah...er.. "girls" in their legislative delegation. They are demagogs, because they have absolutely no credibility to do anything else
