I'm way behind on this story.
tell me, what did he do with these documents? I know its illegal to remove them, but has there been any allegations regarding what he did with the material? whether he allowed anyone else to see them once they were un-secured by his actions?
I don't think everything has been revealed yet. He supposedly lost them.
He probablyu removed them because they were damaging to the CLinton Administration, regarding how ill-prepared they were to deal with terrorism and how they knew they should have tried to root out Al-Qaeda here in the US and failed to act.
He did it For the Children.
Seems he was there to help the Clinton team decide what would be turned over to the commission. I guess there were some items (hand written notes) that he thought should not see the light of day.
An article last night said he admits to "accidentally discarding" some of the documents (interpret: willfully destroyed).
Details and laws don't matter.
Only that he is innocent according to the media.
And Bush/Cheney/Bush Sr and Barbara, are guilty of murder, corruption, lying, and warmongering.
And don't forget Saddam and Sons are innocent.
Ken Starr is a pervert.
Clinton is just a "bad boy".
And the Kerry/UN/Soros ticket, will make it all go away, and we will be comfortable again.
Got it?
Another component that I don't see mentioned in the replies from other FReepers is that there could have been a sting element involved. Officials at the Archives realized that the first set of documents (not just Berger's own handwritten notes were taken out) were taken and they specially marked another set when he requested them. He removed those too. In his jacket, pants, and socks.....but inadvertently and only due to poor judgement of course.
Anyway the sting component was reported on Fox&Friends this morning and also was in one of the first AP reports on this story last night. Here's one link:
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20040720/D83U6TIO0.html
"Officials familiar with the investigation said Archives staff specially marked the documents and when the new copy and others disappeared, Archives officials called Clinton attorney Bruce Lindsey to report the disappearance. "
