Howard Dean Was Robbed

Howard Dean was robbed!

If Howard Dean ever had any reason to scream his head off, this was it.

The former Vermont governor - whose once-frontrunning presidential campaign ended with a shriek, not a whimper - was on his way last week from a Canadian vacation to a Washington, D.C., fund-raiser.

But on his layover in the American Airlines terminal at JFK, he was told that bad weather would keep him from arriving on time at the Women's National Democratic Club.

There, on Wednesday night, some 350 Dean fans - who gave thousands of dollars to Dean's Democracy for America organization - were waiting eagerly to hear his remarks.

But thunderheads had gathered along the route to D.C. and Dean's flight couldn't take off. So a speaker-phone was set up at the fund-raiser, and Dean went to a pay phone, retrieved a calling card from his wallet, and dialed into the event while resting his wallet on top of the phone.

As he was delivering an impassioned pep talk about impending Democratic victory, Dean saw some disembodied fingers suddenly slip around his wallet - containing all his credit cards and an undetermined amount of cash - and just as suddenly disappear with them.

"I gotta go. Somebody just stole my wallet," Dean abruptly ended his speech.

But instead of saying "YEEEEAAAARRRRGH!" Dean calmly filed a police report and - using his passport in his briefcase as identification - eventually made his way back to Burlington.

Where everybody knows his name.

Ever been to the Canadian Rockies?
Beats the hell out of the over-crowded, rundown American Rockies.
Ops, I wasn't suppose to tell anyone.
Alberta is mostly conservative and big oil & gas producing as well.

Canada and Howie go way back. Remember the Canadian Talk Show he was on years ago? I would expect him to vacation among "friends".

BTW, anyone who lays his wallet on top of a telephone in JFK Int'l Airport is not smart enough to be President of outer Mongolia.

Hmmmm - makes me think of that saying, "A Republican is a Democrat who just got mugged." Maybe we'll see Dean working for Bush pretty soon......?

The way I heard it was a "Conservative is a Liberal that has been mugged".

Of course, you are right. I don't remember punch lines well, either. Just the 'concept'

Leaving a wallet where people can grab it..How do you like that dope?? Can you imagine him being President of the United States?? Canada is a nice country to visit. Canada would probably win a lot more American friends if they enticed Dean to stay there....................permanently!!!

I bet he'll use this to his political advantage by saying the gap between the rich and the poor is too large and we need to raise taxes to eliminate this...blah blah blah

I went to Banf last year - the scenery was beautiful, the hotel over-priced but definitely upper end. The town itself was as bad and as tacky as any resort town.
But the Calgary airport really was an experience. I have been at airports in India that were more impressive in every way. Despite Calgary being a major commercial center and fairly large city the airport was a 3rd world joke. The 'international' section of the airport was barely large enough to seat 1/3 of the folks that were booked on the plane. On the other hand, the Canadian rockies are REALLY pretty - but with really mean mosquitos! (AND believe me, I KNOW mosquitos!)

Hey Mongolia just held elections recently and Howie not only was not elected but was not even a credible write in candidate.
T
They have his number.
Those people over there are tired of socialistic normads and are smarter than to give Howie the time of day.
