Ever been to the Canadian Rockies?
Beats the hell out of the over-crowded, rundown American Rockies.
Ops, I wasn't suppose to tell anyone.
Alberta is mostly conservative and big oil & gas producing as well.

I went to Banf last year - the scenery was beautiful, the hotel over-priced but definitely upper end. The town itself was as bad and as tacky as any resort town.
But the Calgary airport really was an experience. I have been at airports in India that were more impressive in every way. Despite Calgary being a major commercial center and fairly large city the airport was a 3rd world joke. The 'international' section of the airport was barely large enough to seat 1/3 of the folks that were booked on the plane. On the other hand, the Canadian rockies are REALLY pretty - but with really mean mosquitos! (AND believe me, I KNOW mosquitos!)
