Roh wants CIA's 'No' to go
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- South Korea has been pushing the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency to change the way it spells President Roh Moo-hyun's last name, but the CIA is sticking to its guns, the embassy says.
In an online directory and in its World Fact Book, a standard reference, the CIA spells it "No," rather than "Roh," the South Korean leader's preference.
The embassy has sent the CIA three formal requests, one last year and two this year, as part of efforts to get the entire U.S. government to change its spelling, said Jeongsun Suh, the officer in charge of press and culture.

'No' is closer to native Korean pronunciation than 'Roh'. They just hates the connotation 'No' would evoke. I do not have any problem because I have always thought that he is incompetent to govern. He is 'No' alright.

Korean name translations are problematic since there are algorithms that approximate the way words sound, but then there are prefered latin-izations that the individual Korean's want to use for themselves. I don't see why the CIA can't call the man what he wants to be called. I'm sure his passport says 'Roh'.

Sheesh. You'd think they would have more pressing concerns to worry about.

I'm sure that the CIA knows exactly what they No ing.
Just like President Bush said "Soddam" when he spoke about Iraq's Mass Murdering despot.

Maybe
this little number could be sent over to pound some sense into the minds of those mis-spelling imperialist Americans. /sarc
(Actually, it is a scene from the North Korean 007 movie in the 1980s that defector C.R. Jenkins had a part in as an evil American....)

The woman in the picture has strong resemblance to Hitlery. Was she in the movie, too?

Nah, She was still involved w/ Hubbell & Foster in the Rose Law Firm. She is in the Movie, The Manchuian Candidate. though as the RED QUEEN...as her long lost understudy...her true calling...NK's "Great Leader" knew. :))

This strikes me at utterly ridiculous. Why in the world wouldn’t the CIA spell his name “Roh” no matter what it sounds like. Are the CIA fans of those spelling bee protesters or something?
