Sometimes The Today Show doesn't even have to get to an interview to indulge its liberal bias. The show opened this morning with a tease for coverage on the 9/11 Commission's report. As various images flashed on the screen, Katie intoned that the report "found a link between Al-Qaeda and Iran and called for changes in the intelligence community."
Continuing her intro, Katie stated "the question remains as to who is to blame for the intelligence failures?" and suddenly the screen was filled with . . . footage of Pres. Bush strolling across the White House lawn. Very "subliminable," no?
There is obviously no doubt in Katie's mind as to the identity of the culprit. The perfect way for Today and Couric to express their view, with no need to offer and evidence in support.
Today Show ping.
I'm put in mind of a network hit piece on Reagan back in the 1980s. Reagan's advisor said that voice had no effect - that the pictures of Reagan had the effect of a campaign commercial.
The network did market research and found that he (Lyn Nofsinger(sp), I think) was correct. Scary, huh?
Couric went on to interview former CIA Director James Woolsey. Always on the prowl for an angle from which to attack the Bush administration, Katie asked "since the report found that Iran, not Iraq, gave safe passage to a number of the 9/11 terrorists, did we attack the wrong country?"
Woolsey dissapointed Katie with his response, opining that Saddam had killed many more people than the Iranian mullahs and that it was a good thing we have liberated Iraq.
Katie is taking lessons from the pig-faced guru of Liberalism, Michael Moore.
Actually, W looked 'mah-ve-lous,' striding confidently across the White House lawn and giving a friendly wave. Still, the Today message was clear: "here is the man who is responsible for the intel failures."
Darn! I thought this was about the chipmaker's revenue forecast and stock decline last week . . . .
I hate liberal media
I was watching that segment and it struck me that either she has no clue about the proximity between Iraq and Iran and its political meaning, or she's doing her damnedest to ignore and bury it.
Gee, don't suppose Colic mentioned how Con-gress tied the hands of our intell folks with their insane rules and regulations? Or how Jean wanted to gut the funding for our intell services back in the 90's? Or how all that Congressional oversight never seems to find anything wriong till after the fact?
In other Today news, Lester Holt is at this moment interviewing Vanessa Kerry, Kerry's daughter from his first marriage (one of the children he cared so deeply about that he was willing to declare her meaningless by annulling his marriage to their mother).
In any case, no insult to Vanessa intended - it's not her fault after all. But the poor girl has obviously inherited her father's equine DNA. She has a face eerily reminiscent of one of the Kentucky Derby also rans.
And while she is clearly an adult (I'd guess about 30), she got no substantive questions, just fluffy stuff about the physical arrangements in the convention hall and her preparations for the speech she'll be giving.
Good rhetorical question.
I'm sure Katie will find a way to blame W for that, too.
You have my respect and admiration for sitting through this and posting on it. Thanks!
Aw come on.
Clinton is to blame.
Although nobody has told ya'll this yet, Clinton decided in 1995 when terrorists were attacking the United States that this would be unacceptable for the sheeple to know terrorists killed Americans going into the 1996 election year. Of course in 1994, the Republicans made the Democrats shake. Things didn't look good for Clinton.
So, Oklahoma City, eight Iraqi defector soldiers along with two American patsies bomb the Federal Building in Oklahoma City.
For 24 hours, we are looking for two middle eastern terrorists in a Ford Pick up.
Then Jamie Gorelick goes to OKC to help in the investigation.
Now the investigation turns to ONLY two Americans. There could be no foreign terrorist per presidential order. The rest of that story you know.
The eight Iraqis are never interviewed except by a reporter named Jayna Davis.
One of the Iraqi's goes to work at Boston Logan Int'l. He was there the morning of 9-11-01.
In 1996, a plane is shot down by a missle. Approximatley 270 witnesses say it was a missle. The feds say it was a fuel tank explosion thought up by none other than Richard Clark.
Jamie Gorelick gets involved in the TWA 800 investigation. We quickly conclude there were NO terrorists.
Flash ahead to the 9-11 comission. Jamie Gorelick and Richard Clark are on front pages in every newspaper.
DOES any of this make sense now OR is it that NO ONE is paying attention until a reporter tells you the OBVIOUS!
Mention conspiracy and everybody shuts down their brain. Just think, a natural liar like Bill Clinton has to love the concept of "conspiracy theory." Put an incident in that box, and the sheele will believe anything.
You're very welcome. It's my, twisted, pleasure to do this!
This is a riot - Katie is now interviewing Martha Stewart's "prison consultant"! That's right, she has retained a specialist to advise her how to deal with prison life. Bad news - no email, no FedEx, and no right to conduct business by phone.
Great observation.
