REPORT ON THE SPORTING GOODS DRIVE IN CONECTICUT
It seems all the media attention failed in one sense: We only had 25 to 30 donors combined at both locations.
However, without those 30 donors, we would not have had the success we did.
We collected about $1500 worth (Maybe $2000, we havent done a full tally), of basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, racquets and racquet balls, baseballs, softballs, gloves and bats!
Each Collection site had 3 or more people come up and deposit over $100 worth of balls and gloves in one deposit!
We had only a few drop off one football or soccer ball, most had a bag with several items in it.
At the Plainville site, we had 3 separate people drop off at least 50 softballs at a time! Think of a large gym bag, and then 3 of them filled to the brim with softballs!
One man showed up with 9 soccer balls and 4 basketballs right from Walmart, and we were told that one woman said they sat down and held a meeting at her Walmart to decide how to help. He did not identify himself, he just came and left, but we are assuming it was from that leadership of that local Walmart and he was the volunteer who dropped them off.
While the number of people was small, the efforts of those who showed up was tremendous!
Those who remembered where they heard it, told us they heard of the event on WTIC radio, Jim Vicevich; WWYZ, Country 92.5, and Brad Davis, WDRC radio. Each station, along with WELI from the New Haven area, gave great coverage the week of the event, and I thank them for their efforts!
No television showed up to record the event today, while they did try to contact me yesterday; however, none found the time to drive to meet me where one collection box was placed at the company I worked.
My thanks to C 1/25 Marines and the New Haven Marines for their support! And special thanks to those who contributed!
I am off to get some sleep. Later.
((HUGS))Good morning, Kathy. How's it going?
Mornin', everybody ! Happy Sunday !
Have a cup while you Freep !

Read: Psalm 40:1-10
He has put a new song in my mouthpraise to our God. Psalm 40:3
Bible In One Year: Psalms 20-22; Acts 21:1-17
The song of the humpback whale is one of the strangest in nature. It is a weird combination of high- and low-pitched groanings. Those who have studied the humpback whale say their songs are noteworthy because these giants of the deep are continually changing them. New patterns are added and old ones eliminated so that over a period of time the whale actually sings a whole new song.
Theres a sense in which a Christian should be continually composing new songs of praise around the fresh mercies of God. Unfortunately, many of us just keep singingthe same old song.
We must repeatedly affirm the fundamentals of our faith. But as the psalmist tells us, the works of Gods deliverance in the lives of His people are many. His works, which are more than we can count, give us reasons to express our praise to Him in numerous ways (Psalm 40:5).
So why do we express our testimony of Gods saving grace in the same old way year after year? A fresh experience of the mercies of the cross and of Christs resurrection power should continually fill our hearts and minds with new songs.
The gospel story never changesthank God for that. But our songs of praise should be ever new. Mart De Haan
Seeing Gods work in our lives puts a new song on our lips.
Rain enough here, have some lol

YOKE :
During a campaign tour of the Apache Nation Wednesday, Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry said he had a plan to increase every Native American's income by $40,000 a year.
Senator Kerry refused repeated requests for details of his plan. However, he also told the Apaches that during his Senate career, he has voted YES 9,637 times....for every Indian issue ever introduced.
Before his departure, the Apache Tribe presented the Presidential candidate a plaque inscribed with his new Indian name, Running Eagle.
After Kerry left, tribal officials explained that Running Eagle is a bird so full of shit it can't fly.
