Although they should have acted more quickly, Slim-Fast did the honorable thing by firing Whoopi Goldberg as spokesperson after her reported filthy rant against President Bush ("Shaking Whoopi Slim-Fast dumps Bush-bash star," July 15). Should the career of this has-been "entertainer" ever be resuscitated, her second-rate performances should be boycotted by all of us with consciences. Maybe she'll get the message that candidate John Kerry's idea of "the heart and soul of our country" and his idea of what passes for entertainment is not our idea. Maureen Abato Brooklyn

Whoopi should be ashamed of herself. I had always been a fan. Obviously, she does not know anything about boundaries. She used to be a figure that young African Americans could look up to, but name-calling and tacky, tasteless innuendoes do not make her look very bright now. The Democrats should be worried, if this is the kind of campaign that they are running. My mother was right, you cannot buy class. Joline Smith San Diego, Calif.
Whoopi Goldberg's comments at the fundraising at Radio City Music Hall were disgusting. I am a moderate with no particular interest in either party. But I support the president in a time of war. Goldberg showed that she doesn't have the intelligence to debate on the issues. Instead, all she could do was throw out cheap, crass talk. Shame on Kerry for not standing up for the honor and respect of the office that he wants to hold. Dave Thomas New Hyde Park

I keep waiting for Whoopi to start using the race card.
Well, maybe she should boycott the Netherlands. That's Slimfast's parent company home. The Netherlands hates President Bush so apparently her rant wasn't the only reason.
Deconstructing Whoopi - a Republican Fires Back I smell racism from beginning to end. . . . SlimFast must realize that black women have every right to voice their views.
The Hollywood elite see their own right to free speech, but when we react in disagreement, we're "stepping on" their rights. In other words, only they have the right to express themselves.
They cannot grasp the consequences of a free-market, capitalistic society.
A sure fire way to spot a liberal is that they almost always believe that free speech is risk free.
Whoopie just got a valuable lesson in free speech. Although I doubt she knows it.
Thanks!
Good to see you again.
Liberals like raunchy Whoopi and the Hollywarped crowd are little more than dictators......forcing on the public offensive, hate-filled diatribes and expecting the rest us to lay down and not utter a discouraging word.
The instructive point in this sorry episode is that all "leadership" democrats (not the typical 78 IQ welfare recipient knee-jerk voting democrat which makes up the bulk of the democrat votes) talk like that about conservatives and republicans -- whoo-pee was just stuppid enough to do it in public. Their vulgar rants so typify the leftist crowd.
Alas, but for that second "n"...
What she fails to realize: 2) Slim-Fast hired her because of her "public image" at the time of hire; whatever that was became soiled by her dirty remarks.
What she fails to realize: 3) It's all about responsibility, accountability and consequences, not one's ethnicity or lack of freedom to speak.
Nice take. She's an abysmal failure and doesn't know it.....yet.
Not in America......
Of course John-John had to do so but it was instructive that they distanced themselves from the hate and vileness she spewed.
Now what does this mean?
Will Whoopi will take revenge by not voting for the Dim ticket?
LOL. Nice to contemplate, isn't it?
At least Moms Mabley was funny.
Nope; and like most of the other arrogant, haughty, and self-serving hollyweirdos, she'll probably never get a clue, either.
Only in different words.
I am sleep-deprived.
And getting used to it. ;-)
And it's ridiculous that every time Americans from fly-over country, or those who reside elsewhere from the cities, put the pressure on irresponsible companies and individuals, the VWRC gets blamed. How about just blaming all Americans who have common sense (forget about the fact that most of them are Republicans)? : )
