Although they should have acted more quickly, Slim-Fast did the honorable thing by firing Whoopi Goldberg as spokesperson after her reported filthy rant against President Bush ("Shaking Whoopi Slim-Fast dumps Bush-bash star," July 15). Should the career of this has-been "entertainer" ever be resuscitated, her second-rate performances should be boycotted by all of us with consciences. Maybe she'll get the message that candidate John Kerry's idea of "the heart and soul of our country" and his idea of what passes for entertainment is not our idea. Maureen Abato Brooklyn

Whoopi should be ashamed of herself. I had always been a fan. Obviously, she does not know anything about boundaries. She used to be a figure that young African Americans could look up to, but name-calling and tacky, tasteless innuendoes do not make her look very bright now. The Democrats should be worried, if this is the kind of campaign that they are running. My mother was right, you cannot buy class. Joline Smith San Diego, Calif.
Whoopi Goldberg's comments at the fundraising at Radio City Music Hall were disgusting. I am a moderate with no particular interest in either party. But I support the president in a time of war. Goldberg showed that she doesn't have the intelligence to debate on the issues. Instead, all she could do was throw out cheap, crass talk. Shame on Kerry for not standing up for the honor and respect of the office that he wants to hold. Dave Thomas New Hyde Park

Bill Cosby tried to warn people that talking like that is not a job-enhancing attribute. Here's living proof.
(forget about the fact that most of them are Republicans)
Wrong!!! Most are not Republicans or even Democrats. Most are so disgusted with both that they don't even bother to vote.
Bush or Kerry? What a sad, sad joke.
Folks, the next step is to get a list of the sponsors of the Whoopster's Nickelodeon show so we can write them too..
The job isn't over. Do you want a foul mouthed drunk hosting a kid's show on national tv?
Congressman Billybob said this about Whoopi:
"sensible corporations put morals clauses in their contracts. These clauses allow them to dump spokesmen whenever they do or say something that will embarrass the corporation and harm its sales"
While Whoopi is blaming the RNC, she should have READ her contract. THE ONLY PERSON WHOOPI CAN BLAME IS HERSELF!
Sweet....
Whoopi gets the swirly
Silly! Liberals never take personal responsibility for their actions. They ALWAYS have to find someone else to balme. ;-)
Yeah, I know .. but I said it for the benefit of the trollers from DU. There's always hope they'll figure it out.
LOL!
At 3:45 a.m. on CBS Channel 3 (KYW), Philadelphia (7/18), Her Raunchiness was pitching Slim-Fast. I called 1-800-SLIM-FAST at 3:46 a.m. and left a message that Miss Vulgarity had been spotted, despite company assurance her ads were no longer on the air. Will post their response.
See Post #51 ... Her Raunchiness was spotted earlier this morning ...
Good for you.
If I see an ad in my area with on a local tv station, Slim Fast will be contacted.
Also, they will be contacted if any cable company on our Dish system shows Whoopi's ugly vile face!
Nice work. Report back soon as you have the info. Thanks.
Thanks fro that cause if I see one with her in it I am gonna call Slimfast again too! Thanks for that info.
Slim-Fast returned my call this morning and reiterated that Her Raunchiness definitely has been fired, but pre-recorded programs containing her commercials will be airing for the next two or three weeks. The stations do not go into their programs to cut out the offending commercials so we'll have to ride it out for awhile.
But what was even more interesting was the astounding number of hateful calls received by Slim-Fast objecting to Miss Vulgarity's firing. The rep I spoke with said she actually dissolved into tears at the hate and vulgarity expressed ... callers were saying that this was entirely a Republican partisan action. The more Slim-Fast tried to explain that it was public outcry that was responsible, the more verbal the callers became. Slim-Fast then had their representatives refer such calls to Marketing so the reps wouldn't have to deal with the offensive remarks and insults.
The rep and I had a short discussion regarding Her Raunchiness' interpretation of free speech ... this young lady said she kept an e-mail in front of her that clearly defined Miss Vulgarity's right to free speech (I'm sure it was written by a FReeper) but that WG didn't understand she was responsible for the consequences of that speech. The rep went on to say that Woopi's been fired ~ by Slim-Fast and not by Republicans ~ and they're glad they took that action ... they'd do so again.
Lest we get a bit complacent, this call reminded me that whatever is accomplished on behalf of our beloved country, the vicious element will cede no ground. Keep praying, and keep FReeping.
You should post this as separate vanity thread and ping us when you post it.
This is great news!
I don't know... seems like the "ugly" card should apply first.
Three down, 9997 to go.
Nice going....thanks for the update.
