DEMS EYE DUMPING N.J. GOV FOR CORZINE (Bye Bye McGreedy)
The New York Post ^ | 07/17/2004 | FREDRIC U. DICKER

Nervous New Jersey Democrats may dump scandal-scarred Gov. Jim McGreevey in favor of Sen. Jon Corzine in next year's gubernatorial election, sources said yesterday. McGreevey, buffeted by widening allegations involving two of his biggest fund-raisers — one of whom was charged this week with hiring prostitutes to blackmail potential federal witnesses — faces growing restlessness among fellow Democrats fearful a serious Republican challenger will soon emerge.

"If a consensus emerges among the Democrats to dump McGreevey, Corzine just might do it," a longtime Democratic operative told The Post.

A Democrat close to Corzine told The Philadelphia Inquirer, "If the circumstances are right, he'll do it."

I wonder if the Dims will be smart enough to do this before the required filing period, or if they'll have to pull another Torecelli.

Can we pick up Corzine's seat if he leaves the Senate? And with someone worth caring about (ie not Whitman).

Difficult to say. The guy that was running against Torricelli was poised to win -- but that was against Torricelli. As soon as the insufferable Frank Lautenberg was lured out of retirement the Republican's chances vanished. Perhaps that guy could win.

Also, it should be remembered that Corzine's victory in 2000 was closer than expected. Again, I can't remember the Republican's name but he came close to pulling off an upset and I think after the election their was second-guessing of the RNC's decision not to devote much $ to the race because it turned out that it might have made a difference.

So there you have two Republicans -- one who would have won if not for Democratic candidate swapping and another who made a race out of an expected easy Dem victory -- who could possibly run.

At least Whitman would vote with the Republicans to organize the Senate, keeping us in control.
We might even be able to get a 60 vote majority that would prevent Democrats from stopping legislation from comming to the floor or killing Judicial nominations. If she then chose to vote with the Dims on the final vote when we only needed 50 votes to pass,it would still be a win.

Hiring prostitutes to blackmail witnesses? How amateurish! You mean you couldn't get your hands on their FBI files? Geez, you guys are strictly amateurs.

Envirowhacko, spoiled little rich girl, void of religious values, servant of Planned Barrenhood, etc., etc., etc. Christie Todd Whitman would further dilute an already all too spineless GOP caucus and be every bit as reliable a vote on judges as Chaffee, Collins, Snowe, Hutchinson (who voted unsuccessfully against a Catholic nominee two weeks ago apparently for his being Catholic) or the unlamented Weicker, Mathias, Brooke, etc.

Tiny Tom Daschle and Patrick the Apostate Leahy and Ted the Swimmer and Baabaa Boxer can count on each (with the possible exception of Hutchinson) to torpedo pro-life and pro-family (i.e. strict constructionist) judges as often as they can get away with it. Some of these people make Arlen Specter look like a Bircher.

Then again Goldwater's first wife was a Planned Barrenhood National Director for about 35 years and Barry was pro-abortion to the max and favored lavenderism as well. We have moved past Goldwaterism, at least on moral issues. Just because Barry had children and grandchildren who wanted abortions and homosexual perversions does not mean that either should be Republican policy or conservative policy.

For these and other reasons, Ronald Reagan was the most magnificent leader that this movement has ever produced and Goldwater resented him mightily for it. We are the party of Western Civilization in America and not the party of eugenicism.

When we present a united front on morality, we open the eyes of available Democrats who vote with us or even better become Republican for in-party fights. One Ronald Reagan or Chris Smith or any of so many like them are worth infinitely more than issues-degenerate spoiled fashionably rich kids like Whitman. Within the GOP, demographics is destiny and that is why social conservatives will win. Also, votes trump inherited money.

Um, what makes them think they have this kind of time?
This guy will be indicted in October.
Anybody know if the new tax-payer funded casino slush fund is connected to McGreevey's scum bags?

It was Bob Franks. He was a congressman who gave up his seat to run against Corzine. He later tried to run for the Republican nomination for governor, but was beaten handily by Shundler.

What Barry Goldwater believed was the exact definition of Republicanism in 1964.
It still is, because the essense of Conservatism is not to change things.
The fact that revisionist loonies have some control of the party now, and want to create a theocracy, does not make them right.

Ooh, Eugenics is baaad, after all Adolph Hitler liked Eugenics.
Adolph also loved dogs, are we gonna kill all the dogs too?
Although with the name BlackElk, you probably consider dogs a breakfast food.
