Thanks for the link to the Ruckus website. Most involved come from the radical ultra left groups.

This is the bio of their Director. It says he was 'removed from Canada'. Any idea what that means? Was he 'exiled' from Canada?

The Ruckus Society depends on talented, committed people to volunteer their time to train other people to be effective nonviolent activists and organizers. The office staff is based in Oakland, California.

John Sellers
Director
John provides political vision and teaches a variety of Ruckus' workshops. However, he is most comfortable in creative confrontations with "the Man" during nonviolent direct actions. He worked with Greenpeace for six years during the nineties, coordinating dozens of actions throughout the US. In 1995 he sailed with the SV Rainbow Warrior in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean to halt drift net fishing. In the last six years he has travelled extensively throughout North America coordinating direct actions for Rainforest Action Network, Earth First!, Project Underground, International Campaign for Tibet, Global Exchange, The United Steel Workers of America and many others. In June of 2000 he was permanently removed from Canada (his favorite country in North America).

What he does for Ruckus: Strategic planning, fundraising, management, training and special projects.

Thanks for posting this website; my!my! I imagine this site and some of its links are watched (I HOPE they are, anyway) by Homeland Security. For instance:

http://www.videoactivism.org/ (The Video Activist Network)

"Civil Disobedience
There will be times when people involved in direct action will be planning on getting arrested. In these situations it may be very helpful to interview them before the arrest and on-site in order to document their reasons for breaking the law. If they will be using a "Necessity Defense" in court (i.e. they had to commit this small crime in order to prevent a larger one), then establishing evidence of their intent will be valuable. Ask them who they are, what the date is, what they are doing here, how important are the issues to them, and what extreme conditions and frustrated attempts to work within the system (if any) have led them to this point in their campaign. Focus on what they perceive to be the larger issues involved. Try to put these interviews on a separate tape in case the whole tape is subpoenaed."
