Oh that's sad. They think Republicans buy Limbaugh's ratings! Oh yeah. And those 15 copies of Ann Coulter's latest that each of us own, just to scam the book sales.
Poor saps.

Horrible reporting by Drudge as usual - he needs to tell us not only Air America's ratings but those of the competing stations during this period to see if Air America's ratings fell or was it a fall across the board for all involved. Did Rush beat him in NYC or is Al Franken still winning even while his shares fell. This is the summer after all.
Drudge knos that those who are anti Al Franken tend to read his stuff so he skews the news to appeal to this demographic.

The good news is that they wasted a great deal of money instead of giving it to the DNC. They preached to the choir, so it all went down the RAThole.

It's all because of unfair competition from taxpayer supported NPR. They grab the liberal listener and don't have to have commercials. Someone ought to complain.....

Air America is basically a one big paid radio commerical by the Democrats. It will go bankrupt after the election.

That's the New York metro area, the largest radio market in the country. Phil Boyce, program director of WABC, Rush's flagship station said it best back in April, when everyone was buzzing about Franken "beating" Limbaugh. As Mr. Boyce noted: "I'll congratulate them (Air America) if they're still ahead when the final numbers come in." Boyce (like any experienced radio programmer) knew that Franken would fade, once the initial flurry of publicity subsided.
A couple of thoughts: first, the liberal press (in particular, the Chicago Tribune) was typically disingenious when they first trumpeted Franken's ratings success. First of all, the numbers they published were preliminary. Secondly, the numbers covered the 10 am-3pm time period, which includes two programs on Air America, and two on WABC (John Gambling III and Rush). It's worth noting that WABC's afternoon programs (Rush and Sean Hannity) are higher-rated than their morning block. Rush does something fairly rare in broadcasting--he increases audience over his lead-in. WABC's average rating is typically a 3.4-3.7; Rush's average rating (according to Drudge) is just under a 5.0--exceptionally strong numbers for a "liberal" market.
In response to your question, Franken's numbers in his "other city" (LA?) are probably lower--he's on an even weaker affiliate in Los Angeles. If you listen closely, you may hear some Carribean music in the background. WLIB programmed that kind of music in Franken's slot before Air America came onboard, and something tells me its about to make a comeback...

"I wonder how those DU folks are taking the news...suicide watch in effect."
Boy those DUers are nutcakes. I read their thread you posted. Gems like 'Rush's andCoulter's ratings are fake', conservative ratings are propped up by Clear Channel, Drudge is a liar (when he reports Arbitron??). How can these people even hope to compete intellectually when they can't even admit to the most basic of facts as a starting point?
