As for accidents, Southwest has had them - and the one which is most interesting has to do with what airline observers have noted for quite some time: hot-dogging eventually will catch up with everyone.

Southwest has had ONE accident, that I remember. A pilot overshot the runway in California and went across a street. He was fired, as I recall. They've been involved in exactly ZERO fatal accidents since their inception.

As far as speed is concerned, I'm happy for that. Southwest gets me where I need to go, and makes sure I get there on time, even if we're late getting off the gate.

In addition, all their personnel are friendly, and solicitous of passenger considerations.

They are THE model airline, IMO, and I fly them exclusively, where possible.

We prefer SW too but laugh about the Fly boys being heavy on the brakes. Maybe that's why lol

The accident was caused by the crew pushing to get on the ground at Burbank. Speed was the very issue. They did not setup for a proper stabilized approach, and landing fast on a runway that is only a mile long.

With all due respect, "on time" may look like one thing to a passenger, and something completely different to those of us backstage. Every pilot likes to be on time... we just know that our abilities will only get us so far, and eventually the odds catch up with people who cut corners.

And yes, their employees are very nice and friendly. They are indeed the model of the industry in that regard. My comments were directed at "no problems" - from your seat in the back of the plane, there may be no problems.

Not my model airline. I can't stand the open boarding. (Although I understand why they do it.) I do fly them sometimes when I need a cheap flight at the last minute, though.
