U.S. places order for armored vehicles
The revival of a military armored-vehicle manufacturing program at an eastern New Orleans plant gained more traction Tuesday when Textron Marine & Land Systems announced a contract for 43 more armored security vehicles.
The ASVs, as they are known, will go to Iraq's Ministry of Interior for use by the country's new police force, Textron said.
Most of the ASVs ordered for the Iraqi Ministry of Interior will be outfitted for use as armored personnel carriers capable of accommodating as many as 10 people. Because of their specialized use, the vehicles will differ from the ones previously built by Textron.
ASVs made for the U.S. Army cost about $650,000 each. The average cost for each ASV for the Iraqi government will be $1.16 million.

I am not so sure the Iraqis are getting ripped off. A 10-seater ASV has got to be quite a bit longer. Can't find a picture of this version.

Textron has a pic of the ASV on their sign outside the factory. I pass it almost every day.
