Recently, Ron Reagan, the son of President Reagan, argued on MSNBC how unconscionable it is that there are those in Washington "standing in the way" of stem cell research, given that so many could so quickly reap its benefits.
And young Ron's planned prime time speech at the Democratic convention has been touted as a major coup for the Democrats.
Not so fast, President Reagan's eldest son Michael says.
Discussing the Ron Reagan speech, Michael Reagan told his radio audience on his nationally syndicated Michael Reagan Show (Radio America Network) that brother Ron Reagan has no interest in continuing his father's political legacy.
In fact, Michael said that his brother so vehemently disliked his father's views he never voted for his own father when he ran twice for the presidency.
Now, Michael says "in the interest of accuracy, and to defend his father's legacy," he must make clear the difference between embryonic stem cell research and adult stem cell research.
Michael said: "Stem cell research is going forward. Embryonic stem cell research is going forward. But embryonic stem cells create tumors in rats while adult stem cells are doing quite well. The Left, including my brother, make you forget the difference."
Michael continued: "The president, and most everybody I know, is in fact onboard with stem cell research. It is the creation and destruction of an embryo for those cells which conservatives have a problem with."
I hate to be technical but.......
since President Reagan's middle name was Wilson and Ron's isn't, can we drop the junior?
Another thing you never hear the left and goofballs like Ron "Jr" is that Washington isn't STOPPING stem cell research, they are only not agreeing to pay for research that has already been proven ineffective.
Furthermore, it's clear that stem cell research has no impact on Alzheimers' but may apply to Parkinson's.
I think "Jr." is used more out of convenience, as well as to make it less confusing as to which Ron is being referred to.
Little Whinny Ronny would be less confusing and more descriptive.
We could start using "Big Ronald" meaning the former and "Little Ronald" to mean that steaming pile of crap that is his son !!
For even more accuracy, I prefer Rhonda Reagan.
I don't think he has testicles.
They were calling Bush "Junior" in 2000 even though Bush had no Junior in his name, while Gore did indeed have a Junior in his name.
Is anyone surprised? Father or no Father, liberals don't vote for conservatives. Anyone shocked that Ronald Prescott would not vote for his Father? I sure hope not.
After December 5, 1998, Algore was no longer a junior. That's the day his Father died.
How about Li'l Ronnie Tutu
I hate to be technical, but President Reagan ran for POTUS more than twice. Was Ron P. too young to vote in 1976????
I like it!
gosh, i'm like surprised!
i saw the nyt magazine's article on him + it was obvious that he was a democrat.
I'd like to propose that we call him More Ron, contracted to Mo'ron.
Whoops. For full disclosure, I pulled that from a site about dance clothing. It is not really Ronnie. (but it looks like it could be)
Reagan didn't survive the primary, which means that Ron Reagan would have had to be a Republican to be able to vote for his father.
Do you think Ron Reagan was a Republican in 1976?
