McVain for one voted against it. Really anymore to do anything in the Senate to avoid these filibusters, we need to have a "super majority" of Repubs.

"Who voted against it?"
More than those that voted for it. With 67 needed for passage, this was not even in the neighborhood of winning passage. But, the campaign issue got it's day in the sun.

Four RINOS; Collins, Snowe, McCaniniac, Sununu. All the rest were Rats with the exception of Byrd, Miller, and Nelson.

I think there is a greater chance of triggering a constitutional convention than there is of ever getting 60 votes for this in the US Senate. A constitutional convention may be what we should be pushing for.

Campbell (CO), Chafee (RI), Collins (ME), McCain (AZ), Snowe (ME), Sununu (NH) were the 6 Republican's, er, RINO's that voted against it. That being said, as much as I support marriage being between man and woman, I have no issue with this being left to the states.

Our political leaders have forgotten the basic principle of our Government of the people by the people and for the people.. I believe a survey conducted nation wide revealed that 65% were against Gay marriages..The wimps in Washington turned down president Bush amendment to the constitution, then we the people should start gathering signatures to put a referendum on this Novembers ballot/
