I love Laura, and it speaks volumes about W's good heart and good instincts that he chose her.
I have no doubt that Kerry, in choosing Teresa, "first he looked at the purse." Even so, though she's not my cup of tea, Teresa can be kind of refreshing.
Interesting you should mention this. I have a quite liberal friend who voluntarily told me last week that he thinks Ter-AY-za would make a poor first lady and that she compares poorly with Laura Bush. We tend not to discuss politics much since we are polar opposites but he brought this up - I didn't start the conversation. He also said, "Don't worry, GW is going to win." I don't know if he's indicative of the rest of the libs but I think it's interesting anecdotally.
I agree. If anyone is ill-suited to be First Lady, it's Teresa - well, with the possible exception of you-know-who. Still, that doesn't mean that on a personal level she isn't an interesting and charming-in-her-own-way person.
