How to stop Democrats from cheating: Hugh Hewitt elaborates on hot new book
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | Wednesday, July 14, 2004 | Hugh Hewitt

Posted on 07/14/2004 1:28:11 AM PDT by JohnHuang2

New Media is trumping elitist bias in many ways, but nowhere is it more evident than in the business of books. And no one could be happier about it than me.

My new book is now out, and I hope you'll order a copy from the WorldNetDaily bookstore. But as you'll read below, I am also hoping you will use the services of Amazon.com to send a copy to your least favorite liberal journalist, a small gift of truth and an invitation to reason. Since the title is self-explanatory – "If It's Not Close, They Can't Cheat: Crushing the Democrats in Every Election and Why Your Life Depends Upon It – even if the journalist you select is Maureen Dowd or Paul Krugman, he or she won't be able to miss the point: Publishing isn't the preserve of the lefties anymore.

Of course, you already know this because of the success of Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, and even more recently, of "Michael Moore is a Big, Fat, Stupid White Man" by the wonderful gents who brought you Moorelies.com. Now it is happening to my book, which zoomed to No. 11 on Amazon the morning after I announced its availability on my radio program, even though it was not widely available in bookstores, had received zero advertising in print or electronic media, and had not been reviewed in a single newspaper or magazine. Elite media is never in a hurry to bring word of the opposition's positions in print, but all of these conservative authors and more, and now my book, have prospered.

Why? Simply put, the Internet. More elaborately put:

WorldNetDaily FreeRepublic Instapundit Lileks Powerline RealClearPolitics EvangelicalOutpost FratersLibertas OutsideTheBeltway RedState Tim Blair RogerLSimon InfiniteMonkeys DaschlevThune CaptainsQuarters ShotInTheDark and a host of others.

For a good list of key blogs and websites, see my website, HughHewitt.com, but don't limit yourself to this list. Throw yourself with abandon into New Media, and enjoy the ability to get the news unfiltered by the opinion overclass.

The book readers of America used to be hostage to the book reviewers and bookstore managers of America. As a class, this group trended way left. The voices on the center-right of the political spectrum had trouble being heard, and faced near impossibility in the getting reviewed department – and they still do.

But those gatekeepers no longer matter.

Rush began the revolution, Fox News Network was the breakout from radio, and the blogosphere has turned the opinion revolution into a triumph for the center-right. Only the big – and dying – newspapers haven't figured it out yet, still lost in their focus groups, wondering why the news-consuming public loathes the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times. It isn't because they are lefties so much as that they are bullies of the opinion wars, trying to silence or ignore the other side of the debate. Now, with circulation plummeting, they are turning into Michael Moores – paranoid cranks, to be sure, but wildly self-important paranoid cranks.

Enough of the celebrating. Time to unveil my adopt-a-lefty-journalist program.

Is it possible to penetrate the cocoons that Dowd, Krugman, Dionne, Hunt and most reporters at the bigs live within? Not if we rely on their own intellectual curiosity. They don't get out much, and when they do, they don't talk with the red state folks.

So adopt a couple and begin to send them the books they need to read. Start with mine. Track down an address via the Web – most major papers have their mailing addresses pretty accessible, as do most studios – and have a book or two or 10 sent off to a national name and to a local reporter as well. Send a gift card with a note encouraging these people to broaden their horizons, and ask for some demonstration that the book has been received. Try and get them interested through persistence and patience in the half of the two Americas they disdain to recognize much less understand.

Will it work? Probably not in most cases. But it cannot hurt, and at least it will come as another shock to their system. Their perimeter is being reduced daily by the rise and expansion of New Media. At least they ought to know what hit 'em.

Kind of like J. Edgar Hoover sending Alger Hiss a gift copy of "Witness."

We can't convert all the journalists. But we can encourage the more open-minded of them to realize a lot of America really IS different from the circles they move in. And who knows, given enough time, it might result in the Jericho Walls of the Old Media come tumbling down.

IMHO the reason the democrats are so enraged about the 2000 election, is that they cheated in every state where they could, and with their mass voter fraud, still didn't win.

I think sending conservative books to looney left journalists is a complete waste of time, and more importantly money. Note: this guy makes money by selling books, not by people reading his books. He is just as happy with 50 copies of his book in Dowd's garbage as he is with 50 copies with well read conservatives.

Blanknoone is on target. Dead on. Hugh has been trying everything to get on the radar screen of mainstream cable news. Particularly FOXNEWSCHANNEL. He has been evolving over the years into a 3hr. informercial for everything Bush, and everything RNC. By title you can assume that it is a synopses of everything you hear on the radio. Just as his columns are. I mean when he writes a column he reads it at least once an hour on his program. He is trying to mimic Sean Hannity in the way that Hannity's program has become a 3hr informercial. (Yes I'll agree it is sucessful, but way to predictable. These guys are past the ability to be objective, and have lost the ability to clean their own house.) Further example of Hugh's mimicry is in the title of his book. I mean look at the title of Hannity's latest (radio show synopses), I mean book. Hugh, learned that if you have a provocative title, then you may get noticed more. Hence, you pull a Michael Moore type publicity stunt, and call Democrats cheaters on the cover of your book. Just as Hannity did the same thing in equating terrorism w/ liberalism. Even though Hugh recieves a check from NewsCorp, through his "Weekly Standard" column, he will not be hosting a show anytime soon on the FOXNEWSCHANNEL. (They have no interest in "The Geek Factor") Conservatives have got to be real, and stand up to these charlatans. Stop buying their books. You're getting ripped off. They're not passing you new, fresh, and relevant information. The authors along w/ the coporations they work for are cashing in on your loyalty. Just check out who the parent companies are to the publishing, radio, and t.v. companies these guys are working for. It's all under one umbrella...

Just an update.. See www.thomasnelson.com This is Hugh's publisher. As you CAN'T see the publisher is so proud of this work that it is not displayed on the homepage w/ the rest of the new releases... As a matter of fact if you search the site, you'll find the only mention of this book is in the "authors" section and under Hugh's name. The irony. Even his own publisher, which by the way publishes an enormous amount of Christian themed books will not display his book on their shelves, so to speak....

If It's Not Close, They Can't Cheat: Crushing the Democrats in Every Election and Why Your Life Depends on It
$15.99

[Book Review]

This is a book about winning elections in the gritty new age of American politics where security has trumped almost every other issue and the technology of political effectiveness is evolving with lightning quickness. Hewitt offers real-world tactics for individuals who (1) care about the future of the United States and (2) want to work effectively to help elect candidates who will lead the country--on a national or local level--in the right direction.

In this book, Hugh Hewitt does more than re-hash conservative grievances, preach to the choir, or even preach to the choir plus the undecideds. He aims to change the behavior of the choir, one reader at a time. Hewitt includes material targeted to people of faith when appropriate. But the book appeals to all readers who consider themselves conservative or center-right.

The recklessness of our leaders on security and many other crucial issues has never been clearer, and acting in response to that recklessness has never been so urgent. The silly response is anger. The smart response is winning elections. This is a book about winning elections...

Publishing isn't the preserve of the lefties anymore.

Of course, you already know this because of the success of Ann Coulter...

In keeping with Free Republic's "Ann Coulter" rule, here is a PICTURE of Ann...

Four Facts and Five Conclusions
What a week it's been in politics:
Bad for Democrats, bad for the Joe Wilson, and good for George W. Bush.

by Hugh Hewitt
07/15/2004 12:00:00 AM

FOUR CRUCIAL FACTS came into the public's view these past few days:

First, Valerie Plame recommended her husband Joe Wilson for the mission to Niger to investigate claims that Saddam was attempting to purchase uranium there.

Second, Joe Wilson lied about that, and about other things as well.

Third, Saddam did try to buy uranium from Niger.

Fourth, President Bush did not lie about Saddam's attempt to purchase uranium and the intelligence he was provided by the CIA showed Saddam had weapons of mass destruction.

From these facts flow five conclusions...

Ah, it's been fun hearing Hugh get an education for the past four years of his radio show.
It seems like yesterday when he tried to keep callers from simply calling a lot of
Democrats poobahs what they are: cheaters and liars.
Or as I like to put it: Unidicted co-conspirators.

Granted, Hugh does keep a fairly civil forum-of-the-air despite having engaged the
frauds in close combat...which makes it all the more wonderful when he finally
blows his cool.
Maybe not like the Dick Cheney thermonuclear chain-reaction.
When Hugh goes ballistic, it reminds me more of Jimmy Stewart in one of his
"everyman" roles where the insanity of a situation converts him from the reasonable man
into the fighting man.
