I'm surprised this wasn't posted. I heard this bit of news on WJNO streaming audio (out of Florida).

Not necessarily. According to the WJNO report, when they denotated the thermos, the force was greater than expected, so it probably had some kind of explosive in it.

Harrisburg local radio has had sketchy reports of this all day, but never seemed to make anything very clear. One of the last reports said the thing exploded when hit with the stream sprayed by the bomb squad's high pressure water hose, but it wasn't clear if there were explosives present or not. I remain puzzled, because I am not familiar with non-explosive things blowing up when hit with water.

The force from the water probably set off a pressure-sensitive explosive inside the thermos.

I just stopped off at the Harrisberg Pa. thread.
Bomb squad has been called. I will pray for you
and your son. My brother and his family live in New
Jersey. My parents flew from TX yesterday to visit
for a week. They will be going every where.

Thank you!
This does tie in with the info posted on another board by a mzkitty several days ago.
Also- I had called the Islamic Center in Steelton (outside of Harrisburg on Front Street) several nights ago at 12:30 AM- just out of curiosity- and they were still up- burning the midnight oil- answered the phone.
The Islamic Center near DC is said to be open all night long as well.
Please see post 22 on the Cave of Darkness thread

Hopefully nothing with bio in it.
Harrisburg has received numerous AQ threats

There was a warning in the past to watch for thermos bottles that the terrorists were "reworking".

Where did you read this? The only thing I can think of in that area is Three Mile Island.
