Afew things I need to get off my mind:
Tom Cruise will present a tribute to Pat Tillman during the ESPY Awards. You remember Tillman, who quit the NFL to join the Army Rangers and was killed in Afghanistan earlier this year. You remember Cruise, who in lieu of a box-office hit will happily reach millions of homes via ESPN.
Words I expect Cruise to use during the Tillman tribute: hero, courage, warrior.
Sentiments I don't expect Cruise to express during the Tillman tribute: unjust war, his poor widow, what was he thinking?
Remind me not to watch.

Ms. Slezak,
"un-just war" in Afganistan? Your kidding, right? Perhaps you missed September 11, 2001 when Al Queda used four airplanes in a terrorist attack that killed over 3,000 people. The United States, backed by every civilized nation in the world, as well as every semi-intelligent being in the world (save you) supported bringing Al Queda to justice. The removal of the Taliban and disruption of Al Queda training camps was, and is, the biggest priority of the western world if it wishes to remain a free society. Free from the murderous criminals which you apparently support. Pat Tillman voluntarily signed up to fight for our right to remain that free society. Our nation owes Mr. Tillman a debt of gratitude for his courage, bravery and honor. I will offer you the following:
he·ro
n :
2. A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life
Idiot
n :
1. a person of subnormal intelligence
You mentioned Mr. Tillman's widow. I am very sure that Ms. Tillman was married to a hero. Your husband, however, is married to an idiot.
(please freepmail me if I have made any errors in posting this.)
Cruise has 'jumped the shark' IMO. Only making this appearance as he has a film coming out soon (COLLATERAL?).
Bravo!
Lando
Good job on your first post, too!
I have little doubt you're right.
I can't abide Tom "paranoid Scientology cultist" Cruise. This is more of a disgrace to Tillman and what he stood for than an honour.
While this awards show *is* an appropriate venue, I still believe the Media overplayed his sacrifice as a play on his celebrity while other fallen war heros are all but ignored.
I doubt she thinks that. She mentions in the beginning Tillman was killed in Afganistan. This is just another loony leftist who thinks ALL wars America has been involved in since 9/11 are unjust.
Yeah, he has, but does that make an attack on Pat Tillman by Carol Sleazy any less dispicable?
So9
What do you expect from a female sportswriter?
I hope Marshall, Will, and Holly go on a routine expedition to beat her ass.
""un-just war" in Afganistan? Your kidding, right? "
Agreed. Even many staunch liberals feel that the Afghan War and toppling of the Taliban met the criteria of a 'just' conflict.
Ms. Sleaze-ak's jackass.
Is that from "Humanoids from the Deep"?
And that's why you won't watch, Sleaze-ack; such concepts are as poison to the self-serving, cowardly, worthless political left.
She wrote in her article that Pat Tillman was killed in Afganistan.
Excellent response!!
A copy of my email to this journalistic idiot calling herself Carol Slezak is below:
"You do realize that Pat Tillman died serving his nation in AFGHANISTAN, don't you?!?!?
I'm sure you recall the events of Sept 11, 2001 when over 3000 Americans citizens were murdered for their sole "crime" of going to work that morning. Pat Tillman remembered, and he did something about it. He gave up a lucrative career and millions of dollars to take a stand and protect us here at home and to bring freedom to Afghanistan.
Pat Tillman was a hero.
I feel so sorry for you if you don't understand that.
The real question is do you have the guts to retract your statement in your next column? I think not..."
