In order for liberalism to work effectively there has to be a target group or groups of people. Usually it is the so-called dispossessed in our country. I happen to be black and conservative and when my high school educated mother and never finished high school father told me to buckle down in the books they instinctively knew that education was the key to get out of any economic disenfranchisement. Throw in the milieu a degree in Medicine, Engineering, Nursing, Aviation or some other areas that pay "big bucks" when you graduate you will not have to worry about finding a job they will find you.

I am sick and tired of these pusillanimous, sycophants trying to tell me that I am inferior because I am the descendant of slaves. Here is the twist I am also the descendant of whites as well. There is not one native born black American that doesn't have some European in his/her blood. As far as I am concerned I will no longer be call African American because I thank God daily that I don't have to run down my food supply on the Serengeti with a spear.

As a collective black Americans count for a GDP of number 8 in the world, where is that money going to? Certainly not hooked on Phonics or other type education programs. Sean Jean, Hilfiger, Enyce, ECKO and Phat farm are displayed all over the bodies of young blacks. Hip-Hip is anti black full of nihilism and degradation of women, yet the feminist's are quieter than hookers in church about Hip-Hops treatment of women.

Where is the NAACP in regards to the state of black Americans? It's leadership is MIA and to worried about it's dirty laundry getting aired out in front of the white folks. Remember back in the 90's under Ben Chavis the organization almost went under because of sex and financial scandals. But the liberals wouldn't let this happen because of the block of black voters they continue to deliver would fall by the wayside. SO they bailed out the NAACP and they are now and forever will be pimped by the white liberal establishment. Even a commie like WEB Dubois couldn't be happy about that.

Nevertheless the first time I heard the term 'acting white' (and in the context that Mr. Sowell suggests), I was absolutely horrified.

Getting an education, speaking proper English, getting a good job, achieving, striving...this is 'acting white'? Idiots who use this 'acting white' dogma against their peers perhaps use it as a means of covering or excusing their own failings and lack of ambition.

Many young blacks likewise regard speaking correct English, or even observing the rules of polite society, as "acting white." White liberals often cheer them on in their self-destructive behavior or at least "understand" them and defend them.
