FROM THE CELEB ATHEIST LIST
Ron Reagan Jr., Talk Host ent Internet Movie Database
Ron had a short lived talk show a few years ago. On one show, he interviewed Charles Manson at Manson's current cell of residence. Manson began "preaching" his "message". During it, he turned to Reagan and asked, "Do you believe in god?" "No, I do not," Ron responded.

Christians don't always have Christian parents, Jew's don't always have Jewish parents. Among most Religions, the parents do try to encourage their children to choose the religion that they themselves have spent a lifetime studying and feel is the one.
Muslims on the other hand, demand that their children be Muslim's and God help them if they don't. Islam is not a choice-Islam is slavery.
And not all smokers die at age 50. I'm talking the overwhelming majority. Children are brainwashed from an early age to adopt the religion their parents want them to have. Most of the time, the brainwashing takes. Sometimes it doesn't, but that is not for lack of effort.
Christian parents of the present, have a bunch of competition in the brain washing department, considering that public schools have more time than the working parents have with their own children and considering the schools are committed to turning every child they can, into politically correct liberal zombies.
In the dark ages, there was only respect for God and the law was God's law as seen by Christians of the day. Interesting that Christianity's darkest ages were when they ruled by God's law just as the Muslims do. It should serve as a warning to those who want to enshrine their religious laws into the laws of the United States.
Any kind of laws can be perverted. Whose law's would you reccommend? Maybe we just invert the Ten Commandments upon which so many of our laws are based.
How about:
Thou shalt kill.
Thou shalt committ adultry.
thou shalt tell lies.
thou shalt covet.
thou shalt steal.
Yaweh didn't create those laws, they had already been in human society (even written down as law) for hundreds of years before Moses went up the mountain. The 10 Commandments is nothing special, except that it adds religious observance of the Jewish deity.
If as you say, those laws were around for a long time among humanity before they were handed to Moses on the Mountain, it doesn't prove they were not written by God and handed out to others at an earlier time.
Hammurabi was a prophet! :(
These laws were written by people who had never even heard of your god. They had their own gods. These basic rules were merely found over the years to be the best way for man to act in order to promote a stable society, given the nature of man and dynamics of society. Giving man-made laws the force of god in order to make them more likely to be followed has been around as long as religion.
I believe you are desperately seeking someone with the wisdom to prove you wrong. I don't seem to have the expertice for that, Sorry.
Don't feel bad, since so far nobody has.
