I don't think it's subjugation ... more like control. Redistribution and depopulation as necessary in order to obtain unfettered access to those natural resources most criticial to the bottom line of the drug, defense and energy for-profit Interested Parties.

Depopulation = Pestilence on Abandoned Land

Natural Resource Monopoly = Eventual Consumption Without Substitutes

Depopulation = No Invented Substitute Goods

Depopulation = No Market for Reinvested Capital

Stupid, zero sum means zero product.

I'm sorta jealous of your girls on occasion.

I had some excellent professors over the years, no doubt, but never the Concentration they've enjoyed. =)

The grand aliance is US, UK and Russia. This aliance won two world wars, now for the next great war I think we could include Japan and India.

The enemy? Germany, France? China? Islam?

As far as strategic alliances, this author is smoking crack.

Russia - Japan ? Japan could supply the entrepeneurs, Russia supplies labor and raw materials. Great combination against commone enemy China (who happens to be looking in both of their directions after Taiwan)

Russia - USA ... natural allies. Russians move to capitalism and ally with the superpower on the planet. Similar peoples, no common borders no conflicting interests other than weapons sales.

Russia - Tehran ? Both using each other for cash and weapons. Nothing more.

Russia - Germany ? That last alliance worked out really well. 20+ million Russians dead and the Germans crushed.

Russia - China : not in a million years unless the USA completely screws up diplomacy with BOTH countries.

Look for immigration to swing back over 20 years as Russia gets to be a better place to live and if she avoids any major wars.

Anyone else agree or disagree ?

I tend to agree with you, but it must be done cautiously. Russia is incredibly fragile, and will remain so for half a century. It has no history of law; no assumption on the part of the people that government will, ultimately, operate on their behalf; and certainly few reasons to trust foreigners.

But I see no Eurasian alliance, against China or anyone else. Quite the contrary, I see the EU as falling apart soon.

The reality is that Europe's economy is falling steadily behind us (the latest estimate is they are a good 20 years back), and the only way they will get healthy is to de-socialize, and de-centralize.

Few books published in Russia during the post-communist period have exerted such an influence on Russian military, police, and foreign policy elites as Aleksandr Dugin’s 1997 neo-fascist treatise Osnovy geopolitiki: Geopoliticheskoe budushchee Rossii (Foundations of Geopolitics: The Geo-political Future of Russia). The impact of this intended “Eurasianist” textbook on key Russian elites testifies to the worrisome rise of fascist ideas and sentiments during the late Yeltsin and the Putin periods.

Five years before President George W. Bush announced his “axis of evil,” Dugin had introduced three key neo-Eurasian axes: Moscow-Berlin, Moscow-Tokyo, and Moscow-Tehran. The basic principle underlying these three axes was said to be “a common enemy,” by which he meant the United States.

Russophilia has blinded you to the reality of internal Russian politics and external Russian policy.

Russia has never been a western nation, despite the efforts of Peter the Great and Catherine (a German!) to do so by force. Its history has been shaped more by conflict and cultural influence with central and east Asia than with western Europe.

It makes as much sense to make an alliance with the barbari, er, Russians from a rational perspective as it would joining with the Chinese at this point. At least the Chinese don't have designs on their neighbors (Taiwan doesn't count) and need wars for "national pride." Look at the demographic indicators (especially in terms of death rates, health, and economic diversification/prosperity) and you will see that there is not a chance in hell that Russia can rival its large neighbor to the east, which is why Putin has been toadying up to Beijing for the past few years.

Russia - USA ... natural allies.--- LOL! You've got to be sh-ting me.

Russians move to capitalism More like petro-state corporatism. At least the Chinese have diversifed their economy and have a thriving private sector.

and ally with the superpower on the planet.

Russia is a fading country. Don't let the influx of petrodollars fool you. Look at the overall macroeconomic pictures and demographic trends.

Similar peoples, Yeah, we really have alot in common with sickly, disproportinately alcoholic Eurasians who worship strong centralized governments and support old school imperialism.

What's with all the pro-Russia propaganda on this thread. Did all the men with mail order whores from that fading thuggocracy decide to sign on today?

Do you always make it a point to wait a month before responding to someone's posts? Did it ever occur to you that perhaps Russia's recent event (like invading and blowing the crap out of an American ally) could change someone's perspective on something?
