No one has mentioned the political ad the NAACP ran during the last election blaming G.W. Bush, then governor for the dragging death of Bird.

That alone should be enough to make President Bush say, no only NO but H--- NO!

We've mentioned it a few times on this thread (there's even a link) but the NAACP must have forgotten.

Actually, I would have preferred Bush would go and read off, quote by quote, what each one of those NAALCP leaders has said about him - and if they were in attendance, invite them to stand up and justify their answer publicly in front of the TV cameras. Not going makes it look like Bush was scared of them. This only feeds their egos.

Forgive me if this is posted down-thread, but as an American male who happened to have been born black (well, dark brown), any organization who in 2004 still refers to itself as an association for the advancement of "colored people" is the first organization to NOT get my support, my interest, or even the time of day.

I'm for the advancement of all people, regardless of their race, their color, or any other factor. Anything that I enjoy, is because I worked hard to earn it. Someone gave me the opportunity to work for it.

And then, (GASP!!!) a Republican President decided to return more of the money that I earned into the hands of the one who earned it. I guess that makes me a recipient of one of those "irresponsible tax cuts for the wealthy" that Flurch Munster and the Breck Girl) keep talking about.

(Current salary: $30,000 per year)

Do you want to really have a society where one is judged "not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character", as Dr. King said 41 years ago?

Fine. Great. Outstanding. Get rid of an organization whose title is one step down, in the offensive scale, from the N-bomb. Start telling people that they live in the greatest country in the world, and that it was made that way by people who believed in America enough to go fight for it, and work for it, and even die for it.

Tell them the truth about what REALLY makes an economy work, and how the reduction of taxes actually produces an increase in tax revenue. Tell them that through hard work and desire, not handouts and "reparations", a person of any color can ascend as high and as far as desired.

Well, someone is and it isn't President Bush.

President Bush would have accepted this invitation to speak at the NAACP convention, but Bill Cosby really said everything the President wanted to say at an NAACP event a few weeks ago.

Yup. My favotite comeback line by BC (to Tavis Smiley) from the previous comments: "Fifty percent dropout rate." (crickets during long silence) "Hello?"

Of course, he had to go blow it later by saying (and yes, Ingraham's show, which I no longer listen to, has since sanitized the quote in her open) "I don't GIVE A BLANK about those right-wing white people!" As if only white people are "right wingers"...

PING to my post at #84 on this thread. Just my $.02!

It would have been interesting if Condi Rice would have spoken to the NAACP on behalf of President Bush.

I believe they've insulted her, too. Same reasons President Bush gave for declining their "invitation" would apply to her, too.

Send Dr. Rice, General Powell, Dr. Paige, etc.. to talk about self-responsibility and respect.

If they're not looking for handouts, and got to their lots in life through hard work and discipline, the NAALCP has no use for them. Or did you see how many people from the NAALCP rushed to Dr. Rice's defense after she was treated so viciously by the 9-11 Omission?

Neither did I...

I've been out of pocket since Thursday -- my wife's family reunion was this weekend, and we hosted it. We had a great time, but hosting 170 people is tiring as all get out. I'll get back up to speed by late tomorrow or early Tuesday...

(thanks to those of you who dropped me notes)

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

I caught a clip of Kerry speaking to the NAACP last week. Judging from the body language of the audience, they were not too pleased with the Dems best pick. And he did not look to comfortable with them and commented to that effect.

When Kerry started in on the part about "the gap between the haves and have nots getting wider" - I thought the amen section was going to loose it. There were eyes rolling and glances exchanged. You could just hear the "um hummmm's". The NAACP will have to hold its nose to support Richie Rich.

``Their idea of equal rights is the American flag and Confederate swastika flying side-by-side.''

Why would anyone go meet with them after a comment like the above?

That's certainly not a "Welcome" mat, is it?

As currently constituted the NAACP is a bastion of bigotry.

"He's the first sitting president since Herbert Hoover not to address the group."

Maybe because he realizes that they do not deserve his time nor do they have enough credibility that he should take them seriously.

'We're not fools,'' he said.

If you vote democRAT, I'd say that is strong evidence to the contrary.

"This President is reaching out to blacks without your outdated politics of class warfare and making everything a racial issue."

They're just mad because the president didn't ask the permission of the massa racebaiters to talk to black people. He just assumes that blacks are the same as any other Americans. The nerve of the president to treat them as equal. < /sarcasm >

<< NAACP President Kweisi Mfume ... >>

He's a colored person?

I coulda sworn he was a gray.

Yair.

He's a bit frizzelled, maybe, around the edges -- but he's a gray alright!
