Reagan Library Road Trip/Visit (August 1 - herding cats)
Rabid Dog

Posted on 07/11/2004 7:23:05 AM PDT by Rabid Dog

Please join us for the August 1 FReeper visit to the Reagan Library in Simi Valley. We are going to be meeting for breakfast in Simi Valley at 8:30 am. The location will be decided upon once we get a better idea of our headcount. We'll will then head over to the library to visit the facility and pay our respects to President Reagan. And then over to Rabid Dog's house for an afternoon of conservative debauchery and Bar-b-que.

Today's thread includes the following four questions/considerations:

1. There is a modest admission fee of $5.00 to $7.00 depending upon the age and wisdom of the attendee. This fee also include the cost of a 1.5 hour optional tour. How many of you are interested in the tour? I want to give them a heads up so they can line up the docents. We will be broken down into groups of 12 to 15 people. The tour is optional and not everyone has to participate.

2. If you are coming from out of town, please indicate so and if you are interested in carpooling, please let us know so that interested FReepers can freepmail you to coordinate.

3. If you are on the fence about going on the trip, please ask to be put on the ping list anyway. I'll be doing a final headcount in a couple of weeks.

4. If you can't go, but would like to have a note placed at President Reagan's gravesite, please Freepmail me and I will give you my address.

Is there any FReeper that will volunteer say a few words at the gravesite and try to coordinate a mini-memorial service of our own? One of our Freepers has volunteered to play bagpipes and will clear that with the Library staff.

I live out here in Encino.. I'd like to see the Library, and the tour... I'm about 80 % on going at this point. Breakfast sounds good as well.

Just booked the Grand Vista Hotel for a few bucks more than Motel 6 and less than Holiday Inn Express. Found a special for $82.81 per night at "Lodging Company Travel Reservations" on the internet. Motel 6 was $76 and Hol Inn was $99 where I looked plus Grand Vista has full breakfast buffet included.

Just posting for any other out-of-towners who might want to stay.

Encino Man? Meet Chatsworth Man.

The library is nice. It is a nice quiet place to bring a date. I will go if the gal I know in Simi wants to; she's a FReeper-in-training.

How many of you are interested in the tour?

Count me in for BREAKFAST...
...and, for the optional TOUR, too.
I live somewhat nearby, though, so I will NOT be carpooling.
Southern California PING!
What about YOU?

Is Jim Robinson still scheduled to be there?

Count me in for the afternoon of conservative debauchery, at least! I may not be able to make the tour due to other plans, but don't want to miss the gathering.

I definitely want to join the rest of the Freepers, but it is hard to make definite plans at this point. At least, put me on the ping list. Thanks for the work you are doing to organize this!
