You'd lose. Anybody who could read Hayek, Friedman and Locke and not accept it didn't understand it and isn't that smart to begin with. For years I wondered why leftists belive what they do. I now can state categorically that I understand why they believe what they do.

No, for the most part they are not stupid. They fall into three categories:
1. The majority are elitist. Thinking they have a superior world view
2. The other largest percent are just plain naive. Not engaged in the real world long enough to understand it
3. A small percent are just plain stupid
