I remember the Miss Citizen Fair contest, and seeing Lucy's Toyshop and Phil Donahue at the Fair. (I live in Florida now, but I'm a Columbus native.)
Somehow, though, I think it would be harder to find a terrorist than looking for Miss Citizen Fair between the WCMH Pavilion, the Midway and all the Ohio hot-buttered corn-on-the-cob stands. :-)
It may take just that ONE alert person to stop a serious incident (like the border guard that stopped the terrorist planning the millenium bombing of LAX)
BRIEFCASE BOUGHT AT FLEA MARKET FILLED WITH BOMBS
(07-11-2004) - A sheriff's sergeant said that an employee at a Santee swap meet got more than he bargained for Sunday when he opened a briefcase and discovered what appeared to be homemade bombs.
Authorities said that the area was evacuated as a precaution, but the devices turned out to be inert, or unarmed, Naval training aids.
According to sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit Sgt. Conrad Grayson, the employee opened the briefcase shortly before 1 p.m. at a flea market in the 10000 block of North Woodside Avenue.
Grayson said that when the man opened the briefcase and saw what it contained, he laid the case down and called authorities.
Sheriff's deputies closed the drive-in entrance to the meet and evacuated an area near the trash bins where the employee had opened the briefcase.
Grayson said they determined that the devices were harmless, but because they were of sophisticated construction, no further information about them would be released.
Deputies were investigating where the fake bombs came from and if they had been stolen from a military base, Grayson said.

Fond memories from an age of innocence. I had forgotten
about Lucy's Toyshop, Flippo, and Casper the Camel.
You just reminded me, O'Hare is not our only airport that is large...we have Midway airpot located on the southside where many Muslims blend in and live!
