Updated: 07/14/2004 10:17:53 AM - VIDEO
MINNEAPOLIS - A major computer malfunction is causing huge traffic problems at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS has learned that a Northwest Airlines computer that provides critical information to flight crews went down Wednesday morning. Dozens of flights are affected.
As of 9:45, 41 departing Northwest flights have not been able to take off. Also, because those planes are still at gates, incoming flights have nowhere to go.
A source with the Federal Aviation Administration said the computer that malfunction is now recovering slowly.
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS has also learned of a similar problem with Northwest computers that happened a couple weeks ago. That malfunction also caused significant delays in morning flights at the airport.
