Public assist: A woman who lives in the 1300 block of Silverwood Road reported at 1 p.m. Tuesday that a weather balloon landed on the roof of her home.

Selene- wasn't there a similar incident last week? Someone found a weather balloon or something similar--it appeared innocuous....someone posted it here....

Cell Phones In Virginia Keep 911 Lines Busy

Emergency calls from cell phones are plaguing local 911 centers in Virginia, forcing them to hire more dispatchers, buy more equipment and juggle more tasks.

Local emergency centers became increasingly busy in 2002 when state police handed the responsibility for the wireless calls to local dispatchers. Suddenly, local 911 centers were taking about 1.5 million more calls annually.
