If she demanded Britney get divorced "to save her career", it makes her marrying the father-of-two loser more clear - it's a rebellious act (hate to armchair psychoanalyze, but can you think of a more proper explanation for this bizarre behavior?).

I think Britney is woefully untalented, but I do feel a bit sorry for her. She never had a chance at a normal life or even a normal childhood, thanks to her stage mother. I just think the whole idea of getting your kid to be your meal ticket is so out of whack with being a decent parent. And yes, I agree with you that getting remarried to such a loser is a rebellious act, particularly when she won't have him sign a pre-nup.

I thought he said it was Britney who proposed and he accepted. Or am I missing something here?

As others have said here, since this paper is British, I'm thinking that the quotes have been edited to make it more British-sounding.

Sort of like the quotes you see in print from athletes - definitely edited so they don't sound illiterate (although I'm seeing more and more parens included in quotes, to put in the correct words or phrases).

The lack of a pre nup killed the marriage. Once she realized her error, she had to get unhitched. No one among the rich marries for love any more. Romance is such an outdated concept, it makes one wince.

Feel badly for Jason - seems like he really cares about her.

Someone who really "cared" for her wouldn't be telling the world private things like he did in this article.

Agreed. I think that's exactly what's going on here. Brittany is trying to cut the ties to mommy dearest. And Mommy's hanging on to her meal ticket for dear life.

This is the UK version of the USA's STAR magazine, they are not as credible as the Enquirer.

I assume the guy got paid for this article (I understand the British tabloids are much more upfront about that sort of thing than the American ones are.)

You're right, but it's clear that the guy wanted a relationship, not a fling, and was thrilled that she wanted marriage.

She asked him to marry her.
I think she hurt his feelings, but it was ONE weekend.
Besides this guy has been paid to be in GQ with a nice little fashion photo spread of himself. The GQ interview was about Britney and the 55 hour too.

He is not that hurt.

That will be her last big payday before flipping burgers at Stukey's.

Almost there.

Britney is destined to burn out at age 30...mental break-down, drugs, whatever. She simply doesn't have the mature attitude to survive. She is a 14-year old kid at heart, even today. She needs to buy real estate and prepare for the eventual downfall.

And as for the new husband...he probably is guaranteed $10 million in cash if he divorces. He will stay around long enough to milk this cash cow...sneaking off $5 or $10 million for his own purposes. He ought to be that smart.

I think this is a phony piece. Pay careful attention to the "quotes" from Jason Alexander. I didn't realize that Lousiana guys used British euphemisms. Gobsmacked? Knickers?

My first thought exactly.

I actually was talking about her current engagement with the pre-nup remark, although I realize she didn't have husband No. 1 sign one either. The thing is, the current loser she's engaged to has one kid and another on the way, and I can only guess that the mother is going to go after him bigtime for child support once the guy marries Britney.

Not signing a pre-nup is stupid (although I'm generally opposed to them, in principle, as they don't portend a life-long commitment). Spousal maintenance, here he comes.

See my post #25 - he's hurt, and he's probably getting paid. Just an immature lashing back.

Yep -- I guess Britney's younger sister's career isn't going as well as Mommy had hoped. The whole child star thing is so appalling to me. I thought we had child labor laws to prevent kids from having to go to work to support their parents!
