KERRY PASSES UP TERROR BRIEFING: 'I JUST HAVEN'T HAD TIME' Fri Jul 09 2004 09:23:56 ET
Just hours before attending an all-star celebrity fundraising concert in New York, Dem presidential candidate John Kerry revealed how he has been too busy for a real-time national security briefing.
"I just haven't had time," Kerry explained in an interview.
Kerry made the startling comments on CNN's LARRY KING LIVE Thursday night.
KING: News of the day, Tom Ridge warned today about al Qaeda plans of a large-scale attack on the United States. Didn't increase the -- you see any politics in this? What's your reaction?
KERRY: Well, I haven't been briefed yet, Larry. They have offered to brief me. I just haven't had time.
Developing...
Oh, come now...Tomorrow will bring the flip statement...the one that says that's not what I meant.

This man is a complete and total idiot.
I think he's passed idiot and gone straight to nutcase :)
Kerry plays guitar, Clinton played Sax. Unfortunately no one lies like Clinton. At least Kerry, the well-kept billionaire by marriage, isn't getting hummers under his desk in the Senate. I love the protectionism arguement. Shouldn't protectionism, isolationism spelled with a 'P', begin at home. Why do 72% of his wife's employees work in other countries? Maybe his own family members should stop outsoucing jobs, before he starts telling the country to do so.
just heard on Fox that J Ed's investments seem to be in some overseas fund...I don't know enough about it to comment, but doesn't that strike anyone as against the "keep jobs in America" spiel they give?
ROFLMAO!
On a serious note- that briefing must contain some very grim news. Even Tom Daschle didn't try to make politcla points or bash the Pres's team after he was briefed, possibly a first in my recent memory....
Ya know, I was going to support and vote for Ketchup Boy, but 'I JUST HAVEN'T HAD TIME!!!'
Where is the Bush ad lambasting this lunacy?
I saw Daschle comment. The briefing must be totally freightening for "deeply saddened" not to attack.
Well, those $300 coiffures do take time, ya know! Sheesh.
If he doesn't have time now for national security, why would we think he'd have the time, if he were (shudder) elected president? It would seem to me traveling around campaigning, would give you lots of time for briefings, especially for something as important as terrorist threats. Goes to show how important, our national security will be to him. Am I being unfair?
FLASH: Kerry's aides said that he was returning to Boston on Sunday a day ahead of schedule to receive a national security briefing.

That's okay. I bet Larry followed up with a really tough question about what JFnK has been so busy doing that he can't find time to do the job that taxpayers currently pay him for or to be briefed on matters of national security.
When he loses the election he'll have all the time he needs. He can't even show up for Senate Votes.
It sounds exactly like keeping jobs OUT of America. Fifty million invested in American companies would help to create jobs. How would Edwards be able to talk about the horrible economy if jobs were being created. I have never seen a campaign that so needs America to be failing in order for the campaign to succeed. The two Johns best hope of getting elected is that something will go wrong before the election.
And haven't we seen already how isolationism or protectionism has worked in the past. Or does Kerry choose to ignore things like our late entry into WW1, our late entry into WW2, Hawley-Smoot, and the real Great Depression.
If we had gotten into WW1 sooner would the Russian people have been so eager to embrace communism if they weren't starving while their country paid for the war effort? Would the Great Depression have been as bad as it was if we hadn't almost totally closed our borders to foreign trade? Would Hitler have taken over almost all of Europe if he knew we would immediately come to the aid of our allies?
Why should any politician be able to bring back failed isolationist policies by simply giving them a new name, protectionism?
Always the excuses. Reminds me of the Clintons. Ruining the country is much more important.
