(In fact, the administration's practice is to let reporters into all fund-raisers except those in private residences. While reporters were invited to the Kerry concert, they were forbidden from recording.)

Kudos to the Globe for reporting this fact. The NY Daily News failed to follow suit.

Kerry's camp also cried hypocrisy over the Cheney "f--- yourself" "flap." Sorry, Johnny. A private exchange accidentally overheard is not the same as this ugly public display. And this fundraiser, as has been noted, is what Kerry had time for after stating he didn't have time for a national security briefing.

"Kerry camp on defensive." Beautiful words. The Johns need to be kept on the defensive.

It wasn't overheard. Leahy sent one of his toadies scurrying to the media to report it.

Was it even overheard by others, or did Leahey himself go to an aide or a reporter and tell him?

The Boston Globe is liberal. I was surprised by their drawing attention to the difference in policy in fund-raising events. John F*ckin's arrogance will hurt more in the long run than that there was a gaffe at this concert. Its not what happened; every one makes a mistake and the American people are forgiving. What's at issue is the fact Kerry can't seem to show grace under pressure. He's being kept on the defensive for a good reason. I don't think his camp quite gets it.

"The Johns need to be kept on the defensive."

Here we have two John's wanting to run the country. My question is, which one of them is soliciting the hooker and which one is the receiving receptacle for excrement? It could go either way, in my opinion.

Exactly. The true hypocrites are the Dems who would dare criticize Cheney over a private comment when they glorify public vulgarity as if it is some sort of virtue.

And remember Kerry's Rolling Stone interview where he used the F-word as if he thought it was cool, KNOWING it would be published?
