He'll cook and clean up as his penalty for vandalizing a colleague's car.
Sacramento orthopedic physician Randall K. Schaefer will be setting his surgical scrubs aside and donning an apron as punishment for vandalizing another doctor's car. The former head of orthopedic surgery at Sutter Medical Center and well-known sports medicine specialist will be cooking food, serving meals and cleaning up after the homeless for 540 hours.
"He will be feeding the hungry in an impoverished area of the community," said Frank Kennedy, program manager for the Alternative Sentencing Program. The program is overseeing Schaefer's work for Sacramento Superior Court, where the doctor recently pleaded no contest to misdemeanor vandalism.
From May 2002 to January 2003, Schaefer "keyed" his partner's luxury cars five times.

The paragraph above is from the bottom of the article. Still, I agree that the doctor shouldn't have to take care of the homeless.
Not sure how taking care of the homeless is appropriate punishment for that crime. Unless he was sentenced to 540 hours of community service, and this is how it is served, in general.
If I had the misfortune of being born with that name I would have changed it. He must have went through hell in grade school.
