.....Bush said Kerry would eliminate tax increases that have helped mend the economy.....
(Excerpt) Read more at hosted.ap.org ...
I bet AP is getting it wrong!
Could just be a Bushism...
yea, and Kerry said he was too busy to bother being briefed on National Security
Oh, I'm SUUUURE it was just a typo. Kinda like the NYT putting the KKK story with a pic of Republican Peter Coors.
Typo or not, is Kerry going to insist it's not the truth? That would be great!
The way I read it, AP got it wrong.
Mental note: read the article first before posting anything.
according to the AP:
Bush said Kerry would eliminate tax increases that have helped mend the economy. "Tax relief is working," the president said. "It's the wrong time to be raising taxes on the American people."
Notice the tax increase line is not quoted. It was an AP goof.
But I thought that cd jones said that AP said that Bush said that Kerry said that he (Kerry) would repeal his (Bush's) taxcuts!
Bush said Kerry would eliminate tax increases that have helped mend the economy. "Tax relief is working," the president said. "It's the wrong time to be raising taxes on the American people." Kerry and Edwards advocate rolling back the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans while keeping parts of the package for middle- and low-income people.
Hillary said it last week!!
Oh increases// huh?
And you could just be a Kalifornian BEFORE you are a Libertarian.
huh? dyslexic perhaps?
Can't be any clearer than that. And the title of this article isn't the original AP title on the website link. It's shown as: "Bush Calls Kerry'Out of Step' in Pa."
It isn't necessarily a typo. You don't have to be smart or choose the right words in order to be hired as a journalist anymore.
What the Bush administration has said is that Kerry would raise taxes for everyone, not just the rich because he would have to raise taxes considerably to fund all the things he has promised.
Bush Ads Claim Kerry Would Sharply Raise Taxes, Be Soft on Terror

WASHINGTON (Talon News) -- The 2004 presidential race between President George W. Bush and likely Democratic nominee Sen. John F. Kerry (D-MA) has already become confrontational with just under eight months left until the general election.
In two new 30-second campaign ads released in 18 key states by the Bush reelection campaign on Friday, Kerry is described as "wrong on taxes" and "wrong on defense."
One of the new Bush campaign ads alleges that Kerry would raise taxes by $900 billion to pay for his massive health care plan.
This rally will be shown tonight on C-Span at about 10 pm EST...check for yourselves. The LIVE thread had over 150 posts saying the President was fantastic - so tune in!
I was wondering why they were dragging out this old ad again, then I found this:

Hillary to American Taxpayers: It Aint Your Money to Keep
Sen. Clinton Says She Will Take Things Away from American Taxpayers
WASHINGTON When it comes to tax policy, liberal politicians often try to hide their true colors. But Hillary Clintons candid comments at a Democratic Party fundraiser in San Francisco may have her party and John Kerrys campaign wincing.
According to the Associated Press, Mrs. Clinton told the San Francisco audience: "Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you.
We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good." There you have it: Hillary Clinton, the soul of the Democratic Party, talking about taxpayers money like its hers, said taxpayer advocate Grover Norquist, who heads Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) in Washington, DC. What insufferable arrogance its as though our taxes are hers to spend!
The comments came at a Democratic Party fundraiser in San Francisco. Former President Bill Clinton was traveling with the New York senator, promoting his newly-published memoirs on the West Coast.
I dont think we have ever seen the two parties so clearly divided on taxes, continued Norquist. On one side, half of Congress 249 representatives and senators have pledged to never raise taxes, while the other side is saying we politicians wont give your tax money to you.
Currently, President George W. Bush, 217 members of the U.S. House and 42 U.S. Senators have signed the Americans for Tax Reform Taxpayer Protection Pledge, a written promise from candidates and elected officials to voters to oppose efforts to raise taxes. Sen. John Kerry has repeatedly refused to take the Pledge.
Americans for Tax Reform is a coalition of taxpayers and taxpayer groups who oppose all tax increases at the local, state and federal levels. For more information, contact Jonathan Collegio at (202) 785-0266.
Could it be a distraction from Hillary's remarks?
