Ken sure got around! CEO tied to Kerrys, too By David R. Guarino

President Bush may know indicted ex-Enron boss Ken Lay as ``Kenny Boy,'' but Sen. John F. Kerry [related, bio] and his millionaire wife also have past financial and personal ties to Lay's shamed energy firm, documents show.

Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry reported more than $250,000 in Enron stock ownership before the firm's 2003 collapse. Kerry also was forced to return a campaign contribution from an implicated Enron executive.

And Heinz Kerry served on a charity board with Lay, even after he was implicated in the alleged fraud, records show.

Kerry has railed against the Bush administration's handling of the Enron scandal on the campaign trail.

The Kerry campaign said the senator's meager ties pale in comparison to Bush's longtime friendship with and financial backing from Lay.

``George Bush and Ken Lay worked together for years, Ken Lay defrauded consumers and collected profits from it and George Bush collected a half-million dollars from Enron,'' Kerry spokesman Michael Meehan said. ``We received one check from an employee that was accused of wrongdoing and we returned the check. That speaks volumes.''

Kerry's campaign took $1,000 from an executive of Enron Wind in November 2001, a check he returned a few months later. He also took $250 from an Enron accountant in May - a check he won't return, Meehan said, because that donor hasn't been implicated in the alleged fraud.

A Heinz family trust bought between $250,000 and $500,000 of stock in December 1995, just days before Heinz Kerry announced Lay would serve as a member of the Heinz Center philanthropy, Kerry's Senate financial disclosure documents show.

The stock brought between $5,000 and $15,000 in dividends in 1996 before it was sold in 1997, the disclosure forms show.

Lay stayed on the board after Enron's collapse and a Heinz Foundation spokeswoman defended Lay in news reports amid the fraud accusations as having ``a good reputation in the environmental community.''

The press and demoncRATS are trying so hard to align Lay with Bush but the dog won't bite. It's proven repeatedly that Lay and the Enron debacle are connected to various demoncRATS (including Ketchupman) and the clintoon administration. Flush the johns!

Does anyone ask WHEN did all these crimes occur? During wet willie's administration

When did all these crimes get exposed and prosecuted? During the Bush adminsitration

Why doesn't someone bring this one fact up, over and over and over.

Like lies repeated often enough are accepted as the turth - So can TRUTH be repeated over and over again so people learn how to discern the truth for themselves.

So true steplock. Even though it happened during slick willie's term in office, the press and the demonrats blame Mr. Bush. People have such memories.

Surprise, surprise...

Clinton exchanged favors for Enron's campaign donations and that kept Enron afloat and seemingly affluent. Enron tried to do the same by donating to Bush's campaign, but he wouldn't be bought and Enron collapsed without a White House to help smooth the way with foreign contracts.

And now we learn that the Kerry's invested in the company in the 90's.

It's a fact the Ken Lay and Enron donated quite a bit of money to Clinton and Democrats and I believe that Lay also had a sleepover in the Lincoln Bedroom.
Yes Bush took donations and flew on their jets but Lay was never invited to the Bush White House and Bush sure didn't try and stop the Enron investigation when it collapsed. He also isn't and hasn't helped Lay in any way either. I don't know how these guys could have been more aggressively prosecuted than they have been.
Just today two of the Rigas Family in the Adelphia scandal were convicted and will be going to prison as will many others on corporate scandals.
Just where has the Bush Administration been slack?
Don't forget that most of these scandals had their beginnings in the go go days of the Clinton era.

I see Meehan skipped right over this little tidbit and focused on the returned donation.

What a jerk.

I won't hold my breath hoping to hear about this on national TV evening news.

Ken (aka "Kenny Boy") Lay: Master of Disguise

He's a mild-mannered, self-sacrifcing environmentalist when hangin' with Kerry and
his ultra-rich and ultra-brilliant wife.

Then he steps inside a corner phone booth (no easy task in the cell-phone era) and
emerges as cunning Texas Robber Baron and conniver with Dubya to enrich themselves
by bankrupting America.

This could be a good comic book...and eventually a movie.
