Ana Marie Cox, the satirical scribe behind Washington political blog wonkette.com (www.wonkette.com), is hooking up with MTV News to be a correspondent at the upcoming Democratic National Convention.
Cox will report on air and online for MTV's "Choose or Lose 2004" branded campaign coverage.
"I have always wanted the chance to raise the level of political discourse in the country beyond simple binary debate of cable shout shows, and what better place to do that than MTV?" Cox said in a statement.
She'll join MTV News' star correspondent Gideon Yago and celebrity correspondent Sway at the convention in Boston, filing daily news reports and conducting interviews with politicians and young attendees.

Just damn.
If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...
I fear for the future of the human race when I read absolute nonsense like this.
Agreed. Even though she's a satirist, many people buy into the drivel and perceive it as truth.
Dear lord,
She makes me ashamed to be female!
Hopefully she'll spend her prime reproductive years bed hopping picking up several rounds of venereal diseases that leave her sterile so she won't leave any progeny.
I forgot to add that Washingtionienne got a nice little $$$$$ advance for a movie adaptation of her blow by blow blog of politician pecadillos.
And what other better way than to ask an educated whore, who belittled every man who expressed a genuine emotion yet had no remorse about men paying to f--k her in the ass?
Yes, she has much to teach our young citizens.
Read her blog. See for yourself.
Did she really do that???
So she wrote. I'm inclined to believe it- acquaintances have admitted that it's not terrifically uncommon for Staff Assistants (or "Staff Ass") to have paid arrangements with sugar daddies. It's just too expensive to live in DC and environs, they claim, to do otherwise and still work in politics.
Apparently her blog was shut down soon after it was discovered, but her material is archived elsewhere. Other posters may know the link.
Washingtonienne is pretty *ahem* experienced. That excuse of expensive living is so lame. Most are just greedy.
You're confusing Wonkette with Washingtonienne. Wonkette is a satirist who is the subject of the article. Washingtonienne was the infamous staff assistant. After Washingtonienne's blog was taken down, Wonkette saved the archives and hosted them for a time.
She was a self-righteous liberal then as now, and I reduced her to incoherent, shrieking rage on the issue of abortion once.
I'll give you an example of her mindset.
She was loudly bragging at the dining hall about how much weed she and her boyfriend smoked on their overnight drives from Kansas to Chicago.
One girl pointed out that it might not be such a good idea to drive baked.
She helpfully pointed out: "Look, highways are designed so that the average moron can negotiate them without getting hurt. I think someone with my intellect can drive on them stoned without any difficulty."
I wonder if Ana still boasts out loud about how much smarter she is than "average" Americans.
I also wonder if her ass is still as enormous and gelatinous as it was in college. I have to assume that she has cut down on the Ho-Hos or else MTV wouldn't let her on the air.
SVC,
Yes, you are correct.
OK, everyone- ignore previous gefreiter posts. Pay attention to SedVictaCatoni for a minute while I scrub all this egg off my face.
Amazing how those two tramps can't resist showing off their skankiness
Jessica Cutler (washingtonienne) has apparently already been paid a bundle by hollywood for her story.
Cutler, who aspired to be a journalist, spouted: "I'm sure I am not the only one who makes money on the side this way: How can anybody live on $25K/year??" When I was 24 and making less than that, I did it by eating Spaghetti-O's, Ramen noodles and Swanson pot pies for dinner; driving a Toyota Tercel with no air conditioning; and sleeping on a $30 futon. I did it the way most parents teach their daughters to succeed: through hard work, thrift, faith and perseverance.
I don't usually write about such inside-the-Beltway gossip, but Cutler's indecent conduct, glib rationalizations and in-your-face shamelessness, and the accompanying feeding frenzy over her, deserve a firm outside-the-Beltway lashing. This vulgar little episode reflects a larger, disturbing media trend toward normalizing and glamorizing sexual promiscuity among young working women. It harms those trying to succeed on their merits in the professional arena. And it also harms our own daughters, who will be forced to fight harder to protect their dignity and credibility in a "Girls Gone Wild" culture.
Okay, so steno pool sex scandals are nothing new in this town but I agree with Michelle that this defining of deviancy down is having a terrible long-term effect, which, although not easily measurable in dollars and cents, will be no less costly for all that. I'm wondering where Ms. Cutler will be in ten years. Reading her archived blog I recall that in the accepted Cosmo-girl life trajectory the heroine; after spending her twenties building a glam career and having a glorious, consequence-free swingin' lifestyle, magically finds the love of her life somewhere around age thirty, marries, and settles down with the 2.1 kids and white picket fence. Hmmm, wonder how often that happens in real life.
Where are these snaps? I know that washingtonienne is very attractive (at least physically), but I would think that Cox would require more than just exercise to achieve MTV Spring Break status.
