Great article -- I would have LOVED to have been there and to see Terrible Ted doin his 'thang!

Also, there is a nice little poll on the left side of the margin that requires some ... assistance.

The poll is approx 53-47 for Bush right now. I am assuming that the Trentonian is a normally left-leaning paper.

Now I have a mental image of this guy dancing around behind Nugent...or maybe putting the moves on Martina McBride...or doing a dance number with Hannity...

I don't think this paper needs to be excerpted - if it does, then the Moderator can delete this post:

JACKSON TWP. -- They came from across the country to support our troops and to raise money for children of military personnel killed in the war on terror. By day’s end, their message had reached all the way to the White House where George W. Bush sent his personal thanks.

More than 12,000 conservative Republicans descended on Six Flags Great Adventure yesterday where they joined in a day of live talk radio, good country music, and a blast of rock - roll, Ted Nugent-style. Dubbed the 2nd Annual 770 WABC AM (Sean) Hannity Freedom Concert, the event resulted in raising more than $2 million, which will go to educate the children of U.S. military personnel killed in the ongoing war on terror. The day was organized through Freedom Alliance, the non-profit organization which helps families of military personnel overseas in harm’s way. "This is the least we can do for these heroes who are out there putting their lives on the line to keep this country safe and free," Hannity told the crowd. Former U.S. Marine Col. Oliver North, a war-time reporter and commentator with Fox News, also joined Hannity on Six Flags’ pavilion stage through much the day, offering background to what he called the "real progress going on in Iraq that the mainstream media won’t cover." The event was broadcast live during Hannity’s 3-6 p.m. WABC AM talk show, and also featured comments from politicians such as U.S. Sens. Zell Miller (D-Ga.) and former state gubernatorial candidate Bret Schundler, both of whom support the ongoing war on terror. The main entertainment included singer Martina McBride, who was named thetop country music performer the past four years running, along with Darryl Worley and his band, The Krew, best known for their No. 1 hit, "Have You Forgotten." Still, the highlight of the day occurred when the irrepressible Nugent, after joining Worley onstage in the early evening, belted out a solo rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner," reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix’s Woodstock performance in 1969. The crowd roared in approval. "Our soldiers paid the ultimate sacrifice in keeping our country free, and we cannot forget their kids," Nugent said to the audience. Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum and Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.) were initially scheduled to show up yesterday, but they were forced to cancel at the last minute because their presence was needed in Washington, D.C., said Hannity. McBride and her band capped off the night’s entertainment with a series of hits which had the crowd cheering. Earlier in the evening, Hannity used the live crowd as a backdrop to open up his 9 p.m. show on TV. A number of people who attended the fund-raising concert traveled to New Jersey from as far away as Oregon or California, said Hannity. "We just got a fax from the White House" thanking us for what we are doing, Hannity told the cheering crowd as he relayed the message from Bush. WABC-AM morning drive-time host Curtis Sliwa also joined Hannity onstage during the afternoon portion of the show, and later spent several hours signing T-shirts and caps from fans. Sliwa is the founder of the Guardian Angels, several of whom could be seen at his side as he mingled through the crowd. Nugent, an avid hunter and self-proclaimed conservative, has long been supportive of U.S. military personnel fighting the war on terror.

Nugent was way cool.

Some of the laid back Darryl Worley and Martina McBride fans looked absolutely enthralled when Nugent came out and did his Star-Spangled solo.

I didn't catch the last part of the Martina McBride show, so maybe somebody can fill in the facts.

All in all, it was a great day. I only hope with with THREE MONTHS and 26 days until the election, that more notable celebrities can schedule some more events like this.

It goes a long way toward showing young people that Republicans are not all stodgy, suit & tie business people.

I had to leave too. Evidently they did an over the top fireworks display! Didn't care for Nugent's Star Spangled Banner. Did get to meet Levin; Sliwa; Ollie. V's wife.

I saw that commerical for the first time yesterday, and I thought it was weird, but funny! It's so random to see these young guys at a golf course, and then cut to see this guy dancing in front of the bus. It's hilarious!

That guy (apparently, his official name is "Mr. Six") irritates the crap out of my wife for some reason. When a half-page Six Flags ad ran in our local paper, I cut him out of it and attached a voice balloon that read, "Smooch me, Carol!" And he started making guest appearances in various parts of our house, starting with the bathroom mirror...

What is really telling is that the headline says 12,000 conservatives. No liberals? No liberals supporting our troops? The Kerry campaign cannot send a message stating something that while we disagree with the idealogy of Sean and his ilk, we really want to help the children of our fallen military men and women because we are all Americans. Here's a couple hundred thousand. At the same time this is going on, the libs have a love fest for Kerry while spewing hatred for President Bush and the military machine. Very telling, IMO!

LOL! She actually thought it was pretty funny, and a nice change of pace, I'm more of a one-liner guy than a prankster, so she never saw it coming, even the third time.
