NEW YORK -- It was an airplane mechanic, not a reporter, who got the scoop on John Kerry's choice of John Edwards to be his running mate.
Bryan Smith of U.S. Airways was riding through a hangar in Pittsburgh Monday night where Kerry's 757 was waiting for a trip to Indianapolis the next day. Smith was told the hangar was off limits.
But he says some of the windows were left open. When he looked inside, he saw "Edwards" decals being attached to the plane's fuselage, then quickly covered with brown paper and masking tape.
When Smith got home that night, he posted that on a little-known aviation Web site.
The site usually gets 5,000 to 10,000 hits a day. But on Tuesday, it got over 60,000.
Smith learned about Edwards even before Edwards was asked.
Sounds like the Democrats really have a plan.</sarcasm>
Just damn.
If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...
I certainly hope that this aircraft mechanic did something useful with this information -- like get his bet down in Vegas.
This was posted a couple of days ago and one of the responses was that the airport person who saw the plane should have been fired. I still don't understand that remark. What's the big deal? Didn't Kerry pick Edwards?
Already posted? I couldn't find it. Maybe it should be moved/deleted - sorry about that.
No problem. Like I said, I think it was a couple of days ago. I don't mind posting something more than once. I miss things on the days I don't get on the tube so normally this would be news to me.
Good scoop by the aircraft mechanic, but he failed to notice one thing. The USA flag between Kerry and Edwards on the right side of the fuselage is facing the wrong way. So much for Kerry and Edwards!
It should have been upside down... to signify the campaign's future!

A link to his thread was posted by a vigilent FReeper that night on a number of posts that were speculating Kerry's choice. Not much goes unnoticed by the FReeper community.
What is the wrong way?
The stars should always be facing forward in line with the stream of air across the fuselage.
AH, you know the answer. I thought you would tell me the field should be on the left, and I could start an argument! Well done even though you ruined my day as a Curmudgeon! ;-)
