Rush has been one of my favorite bands since I was 16. (Yes the other main fav.)

BROTHER!

Never, and I mean ever, in my life have I encountered someone who liked both Rush and Yes.

I thought I was alone. I see now, after all these years, that I am not.

MFH - Great post. Excellent song, from an excellent album! (And yes...I mean album...I still have this one on vinyl!)

It has always seemed perfectly logical to me, and I could never understand why no one else got it. Even though they are different musically, they are alike in that they are both profoundly powerful bands when they are at their best.

Well, today is your lucky day. I like both Rush and Yes.

I saw the former twice and the latter at least 5 times in my youth.

I'm also a fan of both...just saw Rush in San Antonio and saw Yes at the Backyard (outdoor ampitheatre) in Austin in 1998, 2nd row, center stage. I've been a bassist since 15 years of age, and my 2 idols in rock bands were Geddy Lee and Chris Squire. I was only 6-7 feet away from Mr. Squire during that performance and they were still awe inspiring!!!

Sorry, I love both and have every scrap of music ever created by either....including many bootlegs and unreleased material. I'm also a guitarist....so that may account for some of my "mania".

I'm also a fan of both Rush and Yes, but I have to admit I didn't stick with Rush and my album collection never got that big. I've never been much of a concert-goer, but I did have front row seats to Rush back in 1984.

For the record, I'm 45.

Spodefly, does your name come from Roderick Spode from the Jeeves and Wooster books?

I love Yes and Rush, and I have only recently gotten into them too. I guess I am going through a prog phase. I am only 26, so they were both mostly before my time.

Love Steely Dan too...

Huh???

You must not get out alot! lol

For what it's worth, I've been a HUGE YES fan since I first heard "The Yes Album," and for Rush... Well, once of the first songs I learned to play on bass was "Working Man." In fact, the very first concert I went to was seeing Rush on their "Farewell to Kings" tour, and I still think that "Hemispheres" is one of the best albums ever.

As a bass player, both Chris Squire and Geddy Lee influenced my playing and musical interests. And both Bill Bruford and Neil Peart are among my very favorite drummers.
