My Dad needs your prayers - and a card, if you could.
After successfully battling colon cancer 4 1/2 years ago - and 3 follow up surgeries to correct problems with his colostomy - he was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, with tumors on his spine and lung.
He started radiation treatments on one tumor but became too weak to get out of the house. We will be bringing in hospice care in a few days.
Your prayers for comfort are appreciated.
Why a card? My Dad is a collector of things. My local FReeper friends that have seen his house can attest to that. Pictures and cards are very meaningful to him. Computers and the Internet are not his cup glass of iced tea. If I printed this thread and presented it to him it wouldn't mean nearly as much as a card.
My Dad (Wilburn) is 80 years old and a widower. He served in the Pacific in WWII in the Navy Signal Corps.
Freepmail me for his address if you can send a card. I will reply as soon as I can.

I am so sorry to hear the news. My prayers are with you and your family.
Yesterday was the 2 month anniversary of my daddy's passing. I go his gravesite often to talk to him. I know his soul is in Heaven, as is your dear dad's, but it makes me feel closer to him.
I'm glad that Hospice was able come in, they are indeed angels.
Again, my prayers are with you and yours during this very difficult time.

Sorrry to here about that Flyer but in another sence I am not. You see that is what I prayed for that Sunday. I asked god to Either let himlive or to take him without pain. I specifically ask him to take Wilburn in his sleep. After watching my father die in pain I believe it is always the best way to go. Peacefully.....
I like thinking of Forest Gumps attitude on death at this time. He didn't really die per say He "made the trip up to heaven." It is a much better way to look at it. What do you think.

FLYER: I am so sorry to hear about your dad. It was good to know he passed peacefully and free of suffering. We will continue to pray for YOU during this time of loss. You have been such an inspirational "son." Hats off to you, Flyer.
I need to let you know that my grandson and I mailed another card early this morning, before reading this.

His shipmates are welcoming him aboard. God bless him and the family he leaves behind.
When my father passed away in March, God told me as I listened to the lonely trumpet play taps that that will not be the last trumpet he will hear. The next trumpet will be the mighty trumpet of the resurrection when his spirit will join his new ressurected body and the lord calls all his people home. What a joyous reunion you will have with your Father on that day, and me with mine.
God Bless.
