My Dad needs your prayers - and a card, if you could.
After successfully battling colon cancer 4 1/2 years ago - and 3 follow up surgeries to correct problems with his colostomy - he was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, with tumors on his spine and lung.
He started radiation treatments on one tumor but became too weak to get out of the house. We will be bringing in hospice care in a few days.
Your prayers for comfort are appreciated.
Why a card? My Dad is a collector of things. My local FReeper friends that have seen his house can attest to that. Pictures and cards are very meaningful to him. Computers and the Internet are not his cup glass of iced tea. If I printed this thread and presented it to him it wouldn't mean nearly as much as a card.
My Dad (Wilburn) is 80 years old and a widower. He served in the Pacific in WWII in the Navy Signal Corps.
Freepmail me for his address if you can send a card. I will reply as soon as I can.

No, not me. Ditter is baby talk for sister. Only my brother, 5 years younger, calls me that.
The will to live is so strong. Your Dad still has hope and that's wonderful to hear. He's doing this HIS way and he's a fighter! Good for him.
We're both so glad to hear the cards and well wishes are lifting him up.
Tell him he's being FREEP'd :o) (and loved).
God Bless him, and you too!!

Note to self: Buy stamps tomorrow or liberate from the office.
Damn...we must have the same "lazy...ahhh errr...forgetful"....genes.
When I read this I just beamed! Of course, he is a soldier at heart!!! You are such a good, wonderful son! We are praying for the both of you! Both of you hang in there!!!!!
Prayers for your Dad.
May the God of all mercies grant your Father His healing graces. May you be blessed, and, granted peace during this trial. Wishing you, and, those that you hold dear to your heart peace. Stay well and happy, and, keep praying!
Thank you all for your prayers, cards, kind words, pictures, advice, books, postcards, magazines, cookbooks, flag decals, commemorative medals. . . and just everything.
Dad spent a week in the hospital for unrelated problems and he returned home Friday. While in the hospital he changed his mind and decided to fight the cancer. Frankly, I think that will be determined by his physical strength and ability to get to treatments. We can transport him by private ambulance but he does not like the process involved. We shall see.
The picture below was taken earlier today and another half dozen cards arrived since. Do you see your card?
Thanks again all y'all. My Dad is quite touched by all his new friends.
Oh yeah. . . I found a grass skirt at a garage sale over the weekend. I made Dad promise to pose in it when he gets back on his feet.
More prayers for strength for your father & for you.
I see both of mine!!! Hot Diggedity!!!!!
Praise the Lord for his joy over the new friends he has!
It is so special for folks to know they are loved!
BTW when is his birthday?
