Rove is a genius at this kind of election year strategy. This has been set up for months probably part of the deal cut with Iraqi interim government to propel Bush into 2nd term.

All's fair...

My guess: Nearly every country was involved with the exception of our allies.

See how that works?

...exception of our allies.

Let's not forget George Galloway, though. And there's more where he came from, and not just on their side of the pond :(

You're right. When discussing individuals involved in the oil for food scandal vs. entire countries involved, there will be names, even among our allies.

Those people should be arrested for fraud. Our non-allies (Francy and Germany) actually had formal policy and deals with Saddam and I'd love to see the Iraqi people successfully sue those countries.

There should be some US names on that list, too. Oil For Food's scandal problems weren't a secret. I've seen reports/rumors dating back to 2000. What did our pols know and when did they know it?

There will be some Clinton era people's names on the list is my bet. I've been reading about the scandal for a long time too but Clinton wasn't about to take on the UN.

And now that I think about it, you want more proof that US pols are involved: the silence of the Left. It's DEAFENING. Gee, wonder why?

Why should Toon take on the UN? I'll bet it was a cash cow.

Definitely! And this is the group that sKerry thinks we should bow down to.

Bunch of over-paid pigs is what they are. I really detest the UN and what they have become...how they sleep at night is beyond me.

How we as Americans can sleep at night knowing that our tax money is aiding and abetting this is beyond me :(

I demand an independent investigation and then a "commission" chaired by mostly Republicans along with a few token Dinos to get to the bottom of this, It should me milked for 3 months for political purposes.

Thanks.

I just find it amusing that the main (and I mean THE main) thrust of Kerry's Iraq argument has been necessarily tied to the UN as the leader for resolution. As if the Iraqis aren't capable of self-rule. This arguement/commentary by Mssr. Kerry just shows, once again, how aloof and elitist he really is. But, that is what we should expect from John Kerry and the demoRATs. Only they can help people they see as inferior (i.e., anyone who is not them), right?

I hope the charges decimate the UN. However well-intentioned the idea was, it is now a corrupt organization. It is a tool of tyrants and dictators and a tool for moral equivocation. Tell me there is a reason why Iraq was going to sit as chair of the UN Human Rights Commisison? Tell me that the U.S. is equivalent to Lacka-Lacka-Bangee (or some other nation that has the collective output of a small American city)?

Sorry, the UN should not be involved in any security situations across the globe. Let the UN hand out food...oh wait, they F'd that up too. Hmm. Begs the question: what is the UN good for?

I think I know the answer to that.
