Actually, I believe that the derisive term should be "plaintiff's bar". Trial lawyers are lawyers who actually go to trial and about an equal number of them represent plaintiffs as represent defendents. It's one thing to represent a defendant who is wrongfully sued, and it's another thing to represent plaintiffs who are looking to hit the jackpot, which mostly goes to the plaintiff's attorney.
