I was never happier than when I was a stupid, dirty, little girl; I still resent my grandmother and her biology book.
he was thinking of britney spears?
Ahh, but it does not matter what he said or didn't say. It's what he was THINKING! Read between the lines, THAT is why we must punish him.
Let's make that leap together, shall we?
The girl's name was "Isis", probably something like "Isis Jackson". Therefore she was most likely of African American descent which makes the "stupid, dirty" part of Riordan's quip all that more critical. You see, deep in the recesses of Riordan's mind, as like most old white men, he is a racist. You can paint all the pretty pictures you want with colorful words, but you will never be able to suppress a rascist's intent. It shines through loud and clear, if the girl was white, he wouldn't have used the words "stupid" or "dirty". If the girl were white, he would have used the words, "silly" and "little". As in, "You silly, little girl, you. Run along now!"
You see? It's easy once you get the hang of it!
This reminds me of when the department store Santa told the little kid: "You wanna see a monkey? Go look in the mirror, you'll see a monkey." This was an old joke relating to Darwin and evolution, probably from the Scopes Monkey Trial days, but it immediately got turned into a racial thing.
Come to think of it, it's also a lott like remarks made at the birthday party of an old, old man who's gone now.
Well, he IS a gun grabber.
He said it "tongue in cheek" and the little girl took it at that.
The PC police were on this one immediately. He apologized.
It's over....but I forgot, this is a Republican.
Still waiting for all the DemoRATs who have said goofy things to apologize...
still waiting...still waiting...still waiting...
What's worse, telling a child she is stupid and dirty or telling a child she is an Egyptian goddess? Today we would say the former. Fifty years ago, people would have said the latter. This is more of an anachronistic statement than anything else, IMHO.
So I gather from your racist statement that you are probably an old stupid racist white guy?
Since the author failed to give her whole name, who's to say if it didn't mean "stupid, dirty girl?" Geez, have you heard some of the names parents now days burden their offspring with? It's as if they pick names out of their alphabet soup.
From the article:
After reading a picture book to preschoolers and young elementary school pupils, he chatted with some of themIf she's 17 and still in preschool, she probably is stupid (but not necessarily dirty).
If Isis is this child's name, she has been defamed by this overbearing bastard, and he is way over due for being back handed until rationality gains control of his brain.
I am seventy one years old and will pay my on way to wherever I am given the opportunity to the back handing.
One hand tied behind my back of course, just to simulate fairness.
we learn that Isis possessed great skill in the working of magic, and several examples of the manner in which she employed it are well known. Thus when she wished to make Ra reveal to her his greatest and most secret name, she made a venomous reptile out of dust mixed with the spittle of the god,
Dirty? Maybe. Stupid? Definitely not.
I have to agree. I'm conservative, but I would think it completely unacceptable if someone quipped like that with my child. First of all I can't find anything redeeming in making the quip "stupid, dirty girl" with a young child, plus it is just foolish not knowing if the child engages in banter like this with her own family or friends. She really could be hurt by this. People should be ashamed for thinking this is acceptable because this man has an "R" behind his name. I find it, at the least, inappropriate.
"I said what?"
"I was never happier than when I was a stupid, dirty, little girl still resent my grandmother and her biolohgy book."
Ahem, Old Proffessor, according to your profile you are a thirty five year old Father of two children. A son thirty five and a daughter seventeen. That comment doesn't seem to fit the profile. Not that your personal affairs are any of our business, but you do have us in a state of confusion.
I thought 'stupid, dirty girl' was pronounced Hillary in Egyptian?
Ricardo Cabeza....
But you've also got to question the brains of the girl's parents for naming their child after an Egyptian deity mostly famous for sleeping with her brother.
