WASHINGTON, DC Today, U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers and U.S. Rep. Candice Miller issued the following statements regarding John Kerrys selection of John Edwards as his running mate:
Michigan voters are too savvy to fall for the flip-flop of candidate Kerry who said he wanted a vice presidential nominee who can be president, then selected someone he had already identified as unqualified. Edwards has not even completed one full term of public service, and from the perspective of actual public service, he is the least qualified of any one who has served as vice president in the past century.
Much like he has been doing across the country, changing his story every time he changes time zones, Kerry can add his choice of running mate to the list of such flip-flops as his comments in Michigan that he loves SUVs and drives one, but in the Northeast, criticizing SUVs and wanting fewer of them on the road. I was relieved to see Kerry give up on Michigan labor in favor of a liberal personal injury trial attorney who has become a wealthy millionaire at the expense of vulnerable people. With President Bush and Vice President Cheney already doing well in Michigan, this decision by Kerry strengthens the potential for Michigan to vote Republican in November, said Rogers.
Miller said, The choice of John Edwards is a seeming flip-flop on caring about what we need in Michigan. Kerry has selected a running mate that agrees with his auto job killing CAFE proposals and also agrees with Kerry on the need to raise taxes, which would kill job growth and stifle the economy.
John Kerry even flip-flopped in his decision making process. In February, John Kerry said Edwards should not be President because this is not the time for on-the-job training in the White House on national security issues. But Kerry now thinks the Vice Presidency is the perfect place for on-the-job training.
Kerry and Edwards do not understand the needs of our most important industry. They dont understand what we need to do to continue growing jobs. Kerry and Edwards are wrong for Michigan and America.
Kudos to Mike and Candice for some visible support of the President.
I'm impressed with Miller.. and she's been geting a lot of good publicity for a freshman. Even the NY Times is featurig her in an ongoing series about new members of Congress. Is she earmarked for a leadership position in the House..moreso now that Dunn is retiring?.<P
BTW..off topic, but is Granholm speaking at the Dem convention? She's like disappeared from view..
Outstandingly well said. Hope this gets lots of play in Michigan.
I assume both of them are pubbies and not Dims. Am I correct?
