Iran Now Pushing the Limits
GOPUSA-Millions of Americans ^ | 4/5/04 | Carol Devine-Molin

Iran has been exhibiting an increasingly bold and confrontational pattern in its dealings with the West. There's been a momentum growing, and not for the good. A few weeks ago, the Iranians detained eight British servicemen for three days and exploited them on a televised propaganda broadcast, claiming that their boat had illegally entered Iranian waters. This version of events is now questionable -- British Defense Secretary Geoff Hoon has made recent assertions that the servicemen had been "forcibly" brought within Iran's waters by the Iranians themselves.

Moreover, during this past week, the US government expelled two Iranians that were ostensibly "security guards" at Iran's UN Mission in NYC, but were engaging in suspicious activities by photographing and videotaping NYC landmarks, subways, bridges, etc. However, this is nothing new on the part of Iranians, who have been caught on prior occasions participating in similar forbidden behaviors. The FBI was reportedly monitoring the two suspects over a period of time, leading the FBI to surmise they might very well have been involved in the development of "target folders" for future attacks on our nation's soil. Iran has long been dubbed the chief terror-sponsoring state of the Middle East, and is known to be harboring members of al-Qaeda at the current time.

Interestingly, there has been testimony before the 9/11 Commission that Iran and its surrogate Hezbollah have ties, albeit tenuous ones, to the September 11th attacks. As noted by the World Net Daily website: "Former CIA analyst Douglas MacEachin, a member of the 9-11 commission staff, said in testimony last week Iran and its terrorist group ally Hezbollah were linked to the al-Qaeda terrorist group. Other U.S. intelligence officials said there is also evidence Iran is linked to the Sept. 11 attacks. According to the officials, two of the hijackers, Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar, who were aboard the aircraft that hit the Pentagon, had stayed at the Iranian ambassador's residence in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, before entering the United States in January 2001".

However, some in the West are exceedingly alarmed that Iran is well on its way to acquiring a nuclear weapon. In the past, Iran played a game of jerking the chain of the International Atomic Energy Agency, manipulating the agency with only marginal cooperation and plenty of lip-service. Iran was to halt all enrichment-related reprocessing but it's apparently still bent on its nuclear ambitions. Iran will continue to construct centrifuges, so international concerns remain unabated. National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice is now raising the specter of sanctions against Iran because of its failure to comply with the IAEA run by Mohamed ElBaradei. Of course, Iran maintains that its nuclear involvement is for peaceful purposes only. But how can they be believed?

The truth here is not complicated. The ruling mullahs of Iran are a very dangerous class that despises the West, including Israel that is viewed as a western society and a significant affront to the Islamic world. The mullahs are in league with the jihadis that are determined to slaughter all infidels - this is common knowledge. Therefore, we must be very focused on Iran's efforts to arm itself with nuclear warfare, a notion that is given short-shrift by many Europeans.

Essentially, what this all boils down to is that Iran's nuclear facilities will have to be taken out, and soon. Clearly, Israel cannot have these fanatical mullahs in possession of nukes - one nuke would wipe out the tiny state. I think it's a fair bet that Israel will take preemptive action against Iran's nuclear capabilities within the year.

Anyone think we need to pre-empt Israel on taking Irans nukes out?

It seems like Israel doing it could lead to muslims uniting in the WOT, if the already arent...and what else? a nuclear armageddon in the mid east?

Not an expert, just a thought. They are just as much our enemies, the Iran Gov that is.

Between the election and Iraq, we're being distracted from the very dangerous activities of Iran, which must be addressed forthwith. The mullahs are conniving a mile a minute on many fronts. Sadly, the majority of Iranians are very good people held captive by the ayatollah and his foreign henchman.

In an article over at Fox News, it states: "Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters Sunday that Tehran wants only 'stability and security in Iraq'...Grand Ayatollah Kazem al-Hosseini al-Haeri, al-Sadr's Iran-based spiritual mentor, has said it wasn't yet time for military confrontation with the United States. Iran is believed to be trying to win influence with both al-Sadr and Iraq's most influential Shiite cleric, the Iranian-born Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani".

Sure, the ayatollahs don't want "direct confrontation" when they can effectively create damage and chaos behind the scenes.

Israel is at the most immediate risk, and we're bound up in Iraq and Afghanistan. Let Israel help itself now.

"It seems like Israel doing it could lead to muslims uniting in the WOT"

Screw that. Why does everyone still have this irrational fear of the "Arab street?" The Arabs cannot unite, and even if they did, they have no real weapons except our collaborative media.

I mean, come on..."We can't fight them because they might get mad?" What kind of strategy is that? The closest the Arabs came to uniting was in 1948 when they all attacked Israel, and even then they couldn't win. Screw them, the only way they can defeat us is if our Leftists handicap us to the point where we can't fight.

The thrust of the Fox News article is that Iranian intelligence agents have been caught in Iraq instigating and stirring up trouble. Just one more example of Iran out-of-control. Iran is on the verge of aquiring a nuclear weapon -- Now let's consider their prime targets, shall we?

Once Iran gets the Bomb:

Israel will be attacked (indirectly).

YOU are next (indirectly)!

It is NO LONGER about the presidency, this has to be done by President Bush (Kerry will not have the NUTS to do it), or else, and they (Iran) have proven to be suicidal murderers, to one day wipe out a couple of American Cities.

This has to be done before the Elections, this is to grave to wait for after. Iran WILL use the weapons, look at their violent history.

They've boasted that they will hit Israel when they get their Islamic bomb. The Israelis should take them at their word.

I dont fear the arab street, only despise it.

But would prefer to do it like we are now, picking the terrorists supporting nations off one at a time rather than all at once.

Seems like a good strategy considering our stretched resources.

So does only Iran have a nuke among our enemies there?

I also wonder if Irans nukes can be taken out with conventional warheads rather than nukes. Do we or Israel even have targets to strike? Is the intel there?

Would anyone (with nukes)defend Iran?

I think Irans nukes are a much bigger risk than NKs, dont think kim ill has the guts to follow through on his threats.

Well, the Israelis are going to need some new styled bunker-busting nukes to destroy Iran's underground nuclear facilities. I just hope the US has passed on a few to Israel.

You see, by you Americans appeasing these murderers, you propagate the problem. That is; by not hitting them hard (the only thing they understand is force) you are giving them the impression that Americans are a week nation. Are Americans WEEK?

I will answer from only what I know:

NOTHING was done after the hostages were held for over 1 year during the Carter admin.
NOTHING was done for PAN-AM.
NOTHING was done when 241 Marines were murdered by Iranians in Lebanon.
Nothing was done for USS Cole.
911, Americans are starting to have week knees and it might reflect in November.

President Bush should have an approval rating of 80%. Americans have to show STRENGTH NOT WEEKNESS!!!!

I`m sorry, but this is my opinion. If America is week, expect more 911s. Who will protect Americans?????

we need to pre-empt Israel

Israel will be forced to neutralize Iran's nukes. No choice. Unfortunately, that will trigger Iran to attack with everything and the Persian Gulf will be impassable to oil tankers for several weeks. Oil deliveries to Japan, China, and Europe will be severely reduced, which will force China at least to take action,--probably in support of Iran.

If the US preempts Israel the result will be the same.

I think we should have some of our Iraq-stationed pilots do it with Iraqi "copilots". Play the videos all over the place and try to build some extra Iraqi pride in how fast they are progressing in the area of fighting the idiots that are trying to re-enslave them.

I don't know one "week kneed" individual. Don't confuse short sightedness with "weekness". C'mon, you're not an American, are you?

No I am not.

But let me tell you something, I am more of an "American" than 50% of Americans. This sounds silly to you??? I remember 911 and never will forget 911 ! Do you understand the middle eastern mentality??

After "no wmd" in Iraq, the U.S. will not undertake another unilateral war/first strike for anytime in the near future. Even if Bush wins re-election. Not syria, not lebanon, not iran. Iran can now only be handled by a United Nations coalition (or Isreal acting alone without U.S. help). Hans Blix to the white courtesy phone please.

No.

I live in a crappy Socialist country with a crappy health-care system, taxed up to my neck, anti-american (but it is ok for them to bring their tourism money ), crappy military.

Give up, No it is not America under the two Johns, but Canada.

You need to understand, you are hated to the death in the middle east, you are no longer feared. America has to show them the ultimate strength, you will still be hated, but at least you will be feared, better than dead.
