Sir:

So now we have John Manyjohns and John Smallberries on the Democratic ticket. I hear that John YaYa is their campaign advisor. Somebody call Buckaroo Bonzai quick!

Sir:

It seems to me that there is an unwritten rule of politics: never pick a second banana who outshines the "star". In particular, one who is better-looking, better-spoken, and smarter than the guy in the #1 slot.

I think this originated in Vaudeville but am not sure. I'm pretty sure, though, that it applies equally to politics, which--come to think of it--frequently resembles Vaudeville.

Hi, Boris -

Just a note of advice. You may wish to ask the moderators to pull this thread since the newspaper has not printed this yet.

Newspapers use the same software that colleges use - they check the internet to see if letters to the editor have been printed anywhere else on the 'net.

If they find them on the internet, they won't print them.

I've had this happen to me. I wrote a letter to the editor about the economy and before it was published in the newspaper I posted a vanity on Free Republic. Two editors of two different newspaper wrote me and said they couldn't use my letter because it may have been plagarized from the internet. I tried to convince them that I was "Peach" but they had no way of verifying that of course.

Your option, but if you want wider distribution and hope to be printed, ask that the thread get pulled and then repost after it's been printed in the newspaper or after it's obvious it won't be printed. Good luck!
