Somewhere I read that Scott had checked the tide tables of the Bay. If he was going to sink a body, what would be the best situation with respect to tide?
The site websleuths has a tidal chart showing the tides for Dec. 23-24 for the Bay. I think it showed the tide going out sometime in the wee hours of Dec. 24. The person who posted it postulated that maybe Scott was checking the tides for that area (which he reportedly did do, according to his computer) in order to see when the tide went out--perhaps for the purpose of dropping the body in when the tide would (he hoped) wash it out.
Since it is thought that the body was weighted, though, that must have complicated the calculations.
