Amtrak evacuation in Wisconsin for police investigation after stop in Twin Cities
Updated: 07/06/2004 06:03:51 PM - VIDEO
An Amtrak train that made a stop in St. Paul earlier today has been evacuated in Portage, Wisconsin for what is being called a police investigation. The train originated in Seattle and is on the way to Chicago.
Passengers aboard were taken to a nearby school. Amtrak says if the investigation lasts much longer, they will be transported by bus to Chicago. Amtrak says it will remove all passenger belongings before the buses leave.
We spoke with passengers aboard from the Twin Cities. Greg Luce says most people are calm, but Amtrak is not telling the passengers much about the situation.

On June 29th I took the Gold Coast out of Sacramento. It was supposed to meet number 28 at Portland but it was already 2 hours late when it got to Sacramento and couldn't make up the time. All the pasengers going east had to get off in Klamath Falls Oregon and be bused to Pasco, Wa where those going further East were able to catch number 28 there.
It is the pits that Amtrak has to pull off onto the siding for every freight train. All in all I still enjoyed the train trip I had.
